Just saw it on BBC news (telly). Last night's debate is obviously the cause. I wonder if it'll just be a blip.
The Lib Dems are in a stronger position than they've been in for thousands of years. Pity they can't actually get it together enough to really capitalise on Labour and Tories weakness.
Their biggest hope would seem to be to push for electoral reform as part of their bargaining position after the election.
Wasn't the poll about who won the debate itself, not about who people would vote for? (they polled people who'd just watched the show).
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8624317.stm
SNAP POLLS ON THE DEBATE
ITV: Clegg 43%, Cameron 26%, Brown 20%
YouGov/The Sun: Clegg 51%, Cameron 29%, Brown 19%
Channel Four: Clegg 58%, Brown 28%, Cameron 13%
Sky News: Clegg 37%, Brown 32%, Cameron 31%
Does that mean the votor is now deciding who to vote for by the candidates performance on tv, why not have them ice dance then sing a song and have Ant and Feffing Dec host it. ๐
2 answers in and there lies the problem. Even when they're ahead no one believes that they could possibly form a govt, regardless of policy.
Shame.
the problem that the libdems always hav is that their support is too evenly distributed - their poll levels don't translate into seats.
I think it's great. Although I haven't traditionally been a LD voter, I reckon it can only be a good thing to have a *viable* alternative to the big two. I suspect that if people are convinced by opinion polls like thist that a vote for LD isn't a wasted one any more, they could actually end up with quite a good majority.

Nope, this was a brand new poll "breaking news" on BBC a few mins ago. 4000 people polled apparently. Thing is, it may as well be a vote on the debate as it's so soon afterwards.

Why so cynical? I see it as a move from stale two party politics to a potentially refreshed 3 party show with some real chance of change and reform. If TV debates are what's was needed, fine by me.
i think its actually a comres poll of how 4000 people will vote that the OP is talking about
thats just been mentioned on the guardian blog
the lib dems now apparently with 35% of the vote?!!!!
are they now a viable option, i mean everyone is totally p!ssed off with the labservatives
Good to see them finally being taken seriously
I'm gonna vote Lib Dem. First time for me, I've just had enough of the other two really...

I agree. It's very dull to hear people writing them off all the time, especially given what are meant to be the "serious" contenders.
Bet they end up with the usual '20% of the votes + 10% of the seats' tho!!
I think they will do pretty well but I bet that that 35% won't really end up voting for them.
It could well be that 35% like the Libs when asked in their own home, but most of them couldn't be bothered to walk to their polling station and vote.
Everyone likes the underdog. Most probably want Portsmouth to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final but doubt many would go into a betting shop and put their money down on it.
Interesting to see if the Cons/Labs turn on him in the next debate, or maybe they need to be his 'friend' as he could well be the kingmaker in a hung parliament.
Paddy Ashdown made a really good point afterwards along the lines of it was nice to actually hear what Nick Clegg was saying without him being drowned out by the braying of the other two parties.
A point I rather agreed with. I also thought that of the three, Nick Clegg came out by far the better.
hhmmm ... I feel that I have been sucked into the iPod, iPhone, Youtube, MyFace, Twitter, "look at me I am shy!", "I want it and I want it yesterday!" political campaign ...
Style:
1. Brown - Classical approach. "My way and not yours I am right".
2. Cameron - Semi classical but did not prepare well. "Let me think".
3. Clegg - iPod generation, look at me I am your friend and we are best mate. "Whatever you like as you are my client".
Substance:
1. Brown - rational illogical. "the numbers add up but for wrong questions".
2. Cameron - Critical but lack detail. "the answer is correct but did not explain how".
3. Clegg - Answer all the questions by revising "past exam papers/questions" only to pass the test.
In govt.
1. Brown - I decide as I am right.
2. Cameron - I decide but my team will provide me input.
3. Clegg - My team decide for me.
Who to choose?
1. Brown - Let me tell you ...
2. Cameron - Let me tell you there is another way ...
3. Clegg - Let me tell you all your requests have been granted.
