My laptop screen isn't coming on, the fan is running and the green lights are on.
It's nothing fancy a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo.
Is there anything I can try at home?

you haven't switched it to use an external monitor not the laptop screen itself have you?

EDIT I pulled out all the cables, counted to ten, put them back and it has fired up again. Thanks

Fn+F3 together on the dead Amilo Pro under my desk.
Edit: see it's sorted now.

always ask "have you switched it off and back on again?" before anything else...

...in which case, do you have access to a secondary screen - plug it into that and switch the output to it to check if the lappy screen is the problem or not?
