Advice please lads.
Bloke reversed his van into the side of my van, mortified, he apologised and admitted liability there and then. We swapped insurance details, happy days, not.
4 weeks on insurance company says knock for knock because apparently I drove into the side of him!
He has no damage to his bumper but I have to have a new side panel and door skin. Obviously I would like smash his face in, no witnesses of course, so what to do and how is it likely to affect my insurance etc.
He should pay for it out of his own pocket, and I feel like am now a liar.

If he reversed into the side of you then its a physical impossibility for you to have driven into him.
Unless perhaps you'd been drifting it?
Tell them to do one and go back and actually look at what happened to BOTH vehicles.

Unless your wheels do the following, I am not sure how the insurance think you could have hit him?

Edit: Hmm. Maybe refresh the page before answering.

Nice one 🙂
I agree though, I think he must have said that we were parked together and then reversed out together and hit each other, although I don't know for sure, they didn't give me exact details.
It's a shit when someone can lie through their teeth and get away with it. I might give him a call and see what he says !, probably, 'go bollocks to ya'

I had a similar thing years ago - woman reversed into me in a car park, then claimed it was me that had reversed into her.

Insurance told me best result was likely 50/50, I said no way, because I was stationary when she it me and it would have been almost impossible for the damage to have been caused in the way she said it had.
The garage concurred with my sequence of events based on the damage and I ended up getting a 100% her fault result. Was a pain though...

It's probably not the driver, he's already lost his no claims. it's more likely the insurance company trying it on to protect their position.

I'd follow the advice above and respond along the lines that you dispute their claim.

This.
Toys exit the pram time - do not accept it and ask for the evidence. Ask your insurance for your legal protection information, as you plan to go via a solicitor to sort it...our insurers did a rapid u-turn on a knock-for-knock many years ago when we did that...

Push it back to your insurance, tell them he admitted liability at the scene. They're trying it on, don't let them.

Cheers Everyone

That is really helpful, i will dispute claim and ask for specific evidence as suggested. I have nothing to lose.
