Considering that Castrol pay Ken Block $1m for each and every Gymkhana film he makes, I wonder how much the Dubai Tourist Board gave him for that?

He can't be doing too well as he only drives a Fiesta or an old Escort 😉

I think they paid for a training film,so that some of those cheeky wee scamps from the UAE can get some top tips an tricks, before heading over to Knightsbridge. 😉

Probably not as much as it cost them to get rid of all the rubber from the pristine cobbled/tiled areas!!

Meh. Yeah we get it you're really good at doing donuts, now you're doing them in a horrible glitzy disneyworld for rich bellends. 😐

I love good driving, but watching a bloke do donuts over and over and over again in slightly different places is not very entertaining. I kept hoping he was going to do something else interesting.

Great driving, but makes me want to go to dubai even less than I did before. Not that I thought that was possible. What an odd place.

I quite enjoy these usually, but they managed to make that one particularly dull!

More impressive was the lack of traffic on sheikh zayed road.

Starting to get a bit stale these videos.

mostly boring, best bit was the drag race, watching a fiesta beat all those super cars!

I have a sneaky suspicion that it's not the 1.25 Studio

Wow a man does skids for 8 minutes, how incredibly dull. Possibly exciting if you are a 13 year old boy, otherwise embarrassing.

30 seconds in I thought, this looks like more of the same bollocks. Skipped forward a bit....more of the same bollocks.....skipped forward again....more of the same bollocks.

Just a stultifying lack of creativity or imagination in any of these. The first one was mildly diverting on account of it being the first one. After that I've skipped through the rest in the vain hope there might be something different. There isn't.

As awesome as the filming, and the locations are....I was willing that to end. Would rather just watch the bloke thrash about a bit than drive round in circles around every object he can find....over and over again.

Definite lack of creativity.

That Focus is very very ugly.

I thought it was very close in the drag race, only his gearing kept him in front, then the vayron was easily catching

These videos are all pretty samey but he was the most fun thing to watch at Goodwood. Lots of supercars pottering up the hill and then Ken Block barges past in a giant muscle car thing.

Now I don't know too much about migrant labour in Dubai, but I have an inkling they didn't pay over the odds to get some chaps in to scrub them clean in 38C sunshine.

Enjoyed that... Yeah, nothing new in the driving though nice to see the close range / high accuracy stuff but it's the locations and spectacle and film making that make it interesting as much as anything else (seeing Danny Macaskill do a move on a roof is different from seeing him do the same move in Edinburgh, or on Inchkeith... Same thing.)

Also, sometimes things like the fairly stock rolling doughnuts around the Raptor near the start, are setup for a similiar setpiece later on, like the jumbo.

More single shot/first shot stuff in this one, as well- in some of them, you can see they're endlessly repeating sequences to get the shot, there's so much rubber down.

Think I'd rather watch BJ Baldwin in his overgrown rc car though

Dare I say it, if you don't like videos of cars sliding about, other videos are available...

I wonder what the desert just out of shot looks like. Full of Ken Blocks bumpers would be my guess.

Look out for changing sticker patterns

What if you do like watching videos of cars sliding about, but thought this one was of money-over-substance, a really missed opportunity and had nothing of real interest in it.
In a way it fit perfectly with Dubai 😉

Nothing wrong with criticism imo. Nobody has to take it personally on his behalf!

This.

I've enjoyed some of his previous videos but this one was dull as ditchwater.

it's the locations and spectacle and film making that make it interesting as much as anything else

I agree that's often the case, but here.... nah.

Ya he's like the best driver in the world. I think he won the World Rally Championship of America. F1 drivers are lucky their cars are too slow for him. If he went to F1 he'd wreck some shit.

He came over for some WRC european events (I think), didn't do very well, went home to be global world (i.e. just in the US) champion back home I think

He does have very good car control though!

I believe he is Redbull Global Rallycross champion, another series that Redbull have glammed up.

We're going to see the proper World Rallycross round at Lyyden Hill in May, dear Ken would get whooped at that! He's had some rather large crashes in the Redbull series too, worth a google for them!

Except for Smurfmatt, who taught him all he knew along with all the other top F1 drivers he coached...

A few entertaining bits, mostly just the same stuff over and over again. Got to give it to the guy though he seems to be having a lot of fun, wouldn't mind swapping my day job for that.

They like doing that don't they.
To be fair, the drivers are global, but all the races are in about 6 US locations.

Listen closely at 1:18. A spectator calls him a 'moron'. 😀

I love rally. I love tyre smoke, anti lag, aggro driving and all that. I also love those M-sport Fiesta's.

Totally bored by the international donut videos now. The Mustang itself was the most interesting thing about the previous one. Absolutely savage thing.

Ken Block's real talent is self promotion. He might suck at WRC but he's still the most famous driver in the world. He's a professional racing driver because he wanted to be one and made it happen. He made his money when he was young and now he's having a much better time than any of the thousands of people whinging on websites about how he's not that good. I can't criticise him, he's doing a hell of a lot better than I ever will.

Ten minutes of research should sort that out. I doubt stw regulars are representative of the internet viewing public at large.

Pfffsht. He aint shhit. Cole Trickle done raced them open wheelers.

Ten minutes of research should sort that out.

30 seconds of research would imply that he is well down the list of famous drivers.

Not worth arguing about though is it? He's higher up the list than any forum basher.

Find someone half your age and ask them.
