Dropped off the beer and now taking food to the next system for 300k
Are you getting heat on these missions? Either they're above your pay grade or you're really good at this game.
Nah. It’s boom times though innit..
No heat and it probably helped that I ranked up in trading and combat and left the starter zone with as much Cobra as I could buy and 2 million quid
With all that beer and pizza, boom time is exactly what it is!
Matt
Well, that was pretty productive. 3 million in 2 hours doing simple delivery / courier mission and one “ go and find some beryllium from the next system”
Did get attacked by some hired killers on the way back with my 1.3 million of beryllium though.
Not ashamed to say that, like Brave Sir Robin, I legged it sharpish.
Yeah that's about what I got once my rep had gone up.
When are you giving in and going to Borann?
thats a Typpe-10 Defender fitted and ready in the hangar, better get some more mining done as i dont like having just 650mil.
going to try mine in this thing, go hit a belt and mine away while watching something on second monitor.
and yes, i also missed picking up the cargo on my first cargo mission, i transferred all but did not confirm it. only found out when i docked and the station to finish the mission. luckily was only 1 jump away lol
When are you giving in and going to Borann?
Don’t fancy mining. I’ll do some exploring and fighting first
Exploring's good and mellow, but just wait till you need moar guns or a bigger ship, you'll put up with a couple of hour's boredom for 200M. I think I'm about halfway to the Seagull nebula at the minute. Getting plenty of first discoveries, but nothing earthlike or terraformable yet.
Does anyone know if it's possible to take screenshots on the PS4, some holiday snaps might be in order?
Matt
just had the Type 10 out for a spin, im in love from the sound of it alone
Don’t fancy mining. I’ll do some exploring and fighting first
It is annoying, but you can't argue with the money or the Anaconda it bought me.

Press the 'share' button and you can take screenshots, but you can only do limited things with them annoyingly.
Matt - use the share button on the top left of the centre pad on the controller
Bought an anaconda, it's like driving a yacht, slow to respond and bounces up and down. I feel majestic in it.
In the process of outfitting it for the trip to SagA. Why do loads of people outfit srvs for long range road trips?
Doesn't have a docking computer - it's a tricky fit to dock.

Race you for first discoveries! (or probably not, you'll be faster than me) What way did you go? I headed anticlockwise then cut over.
Can see the shitehawk now, having to frequently detour to find fuel but she's getting closer.

That'll change. 😉
Out of the bubble too - happened across a 12kLy passenger mission, so have fired up the AspX and enjoying the sights. I think this'll be the future for me - I aim for Elite in combat just because, but after that, well... I was born under a wandering star and all that. 🙂
@squirrelking I've gone the other way, I was doing some just outside the bubble surveying for mining sites and rare elements. I went out towards the outerspur, so now I'm going clockwise towards the nebula.
Sounds like you'll be there first, the Phantom (cannot recommend enough) has a good jump range, but I am still ~60 jumps away.
There are loads of first discoveries so far, but only ammonia, water, gas giants and metal rich.
12kLy is some trip, that's more than halfway to Colonia.
Matt
*Waves from the Holy Twins*. Exploring is definitely the future for me. 🙂 But I also need something with longer legs - it's a big old galaxy with c.25Ly hops.
In the STW tradition of recommending what you own, I would say Krait Phantom, simply excellent for exploring. I have a usable jump range of 47Ly, just with Farseer.
Can be fitted with everything you need with ease. After today I'm also going to recommend a double scarab hanger!
Matt
That would be sweet - 540-odd hops to get back, so it'll be another couple of days, I guess, than I might start seeing about this engineering business... 🙂
Waving from the Seagull nebula now, just landed on the nearest system!
It's well worth doing. If you have a destination in mind having a decent jump range really staves off the space madness. Saying that I saw some guy had done Colonia in a Corvette with 17Ly jump range!
The requirements for Farseer are pretty straightforward. Donate some meta alloys, which you can buy from Maia or collect out in Hyades sector. If you want to go down the collection route, let me know and I'll dig out the system name (I saw a Thargoid when I was there, so worth doing). Then for the engineering arsenic can be a limitation if you haven't already snagged some.

Avoiding interdiction in an Anaconda with zero agility and 180t of diamonds on board is bum clenching
160m CR short of Elite trading now. Couple more trips and I’ll be done with the grind and can go for an explore in the Krait
I love the excitement of the run to the sale point. As long as it's an NPC you are OK. Fortunately I have never been interdicted by a Cmdr when I have had a hold full of diamonds.
180t is a good haul, what did you get 250M?
Matt
200m. Could’ve got more but sold it at 1.1m a ton 5 jumps from Borann
Took 90 minutes all told. Easy money
The nice thing about the Anaconda is that you can fit it for mining and still have space for weapons to fight the pirates.
I don't really enjoy mining much but I need to do some more. I only have 105m in the bank.
I think I've got about 175M in cash, the rest is tied up in Lavian brandy and bromelite futures. TBH I have more in assests at the minute, after buying the Type 9.
Matt
I squeezed 394 tons into my 'Conda, nothing but a small fuel scoop, mining laser, limpets, refinery and cargo holds. I used EDDB to look where to sell, it had a port 15 or so hops away at a good price, but the data was three hours old - took the punt but by the time I got there, it'd dropped to 600k. That was the day I found out cargo follows you when you swap ships.... 🙁
There's also a mechanism that reduces the price according to the percentage of the 'demand' that you have in your hold. D2EA did a live stream on it, including on of his famous spreadsheets.
That's a brutal drop though. If it didn't follow you, you could just buy a cobra and come back when the price was better.
Matt
Just got interdicted just as I finished fuel scooping with 110t of diamonds. My escape route was into the sun, submitted and might have panicked just a bit...I died... It hurt.
Oh man - big "ouch".... 🙁
That's tough, about an Anaconda's worth!
Matt
Made it! Just landed on a planet at the Rosetta Nebula, the end of this trip, I'm about 5500Ly out. It's been pretty eventful.
Things I've found:
Half a dozen terraformable worlds (no ELW).
Three nebulae (Thor's Helmet, The Seagull Nebula and The Rosetta Nebula).
A crashed beacon, on a planet about 2000Ly out.
A permit area, 3/4 of the way to the seagull nebula.
A 'biological' technecium crystal forest; about 100 crystal spikes every one yielding technecium, where I lost my SVR when one of it's wheels got stuck in a spike.
I've found that the AFMU takes the most damage of any module!
Heading back tomorrow, but who knows how long it will take, I'm planning to return via Barnards Loop. This time hoping not to crash and lose my data.
Matt
Finally Elite trading! 850m in the bank and can base myself out of Jameson Memorial with access to pretty much everything
Now for an explore!
Great work, that kind of cash will keep you going for a while and Jameson Memorial has everything available for you to spend it on.
Reminds me I want to see his crash site at some point, I will take the Cobra of course.
Matt
Well poop - 30 hops before I got home last night, I buzzed a star which dropped the hull to 70%. Passenger says "let me off at the nearest station in half an hour or I'm ejecting" - cue a flat-out sprint and high speed-landing with four minutes to spare, mission failed and no cash for the 24kLyr/1100 hop round trip. 🙁 Really annoying - had a slightly beer-influenced misjudgement "landing" on a planet that cost 15% of the hull, without that I'd have 23 million credits off of Mr Grumpy in First Class.
It was very pretty, though, and I got 68 mill for the data, and I'm a level and a half shy of Elite in exploration. 🙂 Think I might have a crack at Engineer-related FSD upgrades, take another passenger on and do more exploring along the way (bet I only scanned 1% of the systems I transetted, and only mapped, mebbe 15 or 20 planets). Might have a day off today, though...
Apart from Kato's promotion to Elite, it's been a bit of a tough week for the STW Squadron!
Some of these passengers seem like knobs though. What would have happened if you had let him eject? Could you have just blasted him into space?
I think you can use hull limpets to repair your own hull, but not sure. I have an AFMU which is good for modules (although it is more fragile than any other module, go figure).
That's good exploring money though, deserved for such a long trip.
Matt
Almost got the Typ-10's FSD engineered for max range, already giving me much more station where its now possible to get to without a silly amount of Jumps. Next up the shield.
Could get to the over 1 million price in just 7 jumps and not at the max engineered level yet 🙂
I've been ok this week - not done a lot but I've been enjoying my Anaconda. I needed bounty vouchers to take to Todd McQuinn so I accepted a few massacre missions for Harmless pirates. It was rather one-sided I must admit - shredded some poor sod in literally a few seconds, very satisfying. The mission sent me to a location that had about four of them who all turned on me, but my turrets were set to fire at will so there were pew pews all over the place whilst I tried to bring my gimballed class 4 to bear. It was great fun, eventually cleared them up one by one and the last man standing got minced by all 8 hardpoints as he tried to flee. Poor guy - but then, he chose that path when he became a pirate. It's a tough galaxy.
I did lose shields at one point and went down to about 93% hull. That's the first time I've taken damage in that ship I think.
Almost got the Typ-10’s FSD engineered for max range
Where are you lot getting your materials for engineering? The rate I'm going it's going to take a while. I'm thinking I'll end up mining for some raw mats then find a materials trader for the harder to find stuff.
If you haven't got it already, trader Elite is just around the corner.
Matt
Chilled week not really doing much tbh - work is just ramping up to be mental for the next 6 weeks and I'm struggling to do much tbh. Potter around the web and laughing at the F365 forum demise.
Fitted out an Anaconda for exploration and mined a bit. I'm at Sewell dock and half the missions are data transfer to Colonia. 22k ly...
What kind of money do you get offered for data to Colonia? I will definitely do it one day, though I will probably learn how to use the neutron highway first.
Matt
i got my materials from just mining and salvaging the wrecks of ships i have blown up + Scanning wakes outside a station + mission rewards.
I used a material trader to swap Iron for Arsenic for the FSD stuff
Scanning outside the outside the station for wakes is such a low effort way of getting those materials it's unreal. I target the ships as well, which occasionally yields some data.
Typical, I set off for home looking to put some quick Ly in and the first system has 10 HMC planets, 1.7M Cr including first discovery and mapping. Ah well going to take a bot longer!
Matt
now a Lt Commander, edging closer to that Corvette.
18 jumps from Seagull sector boundary, finally hitting near constant fuel stars. In 2 minds about what to do next, probably back to Flic for some more magic on my FSD and DSS but also considering just steaming onwards to Rosette. Probably the former, it's been fun but my god it's a slog with only 28LY range.
That's tough, I've got 47Ly and I'm looking at 120 jumps back to the bubble from Rosetta. I would say it's visually better than the Seagull.
I'm still missing my SRV, typically I've found loads of places that would have been cool to land on.
@Molgrips landing on planets with geologicals and/or biological signals is good for the elements. The resources on the info tab in your galaxy map tell you what you will find.
Matt
:spooked:
I'm +2k ly from Sol and I should have bought a bigger fuel tank.
And have discovered the super cruise assist thingy too.
Not found anything undiscovered so far
