Only on the front (mondeo estate - from scotland), they are verdestein Snowtrac2's. The back has some bog standard jobbies.
Are they ok to run on the road until they wear out? Or are they dangerous when not in groups of 4/or it's dry? Will they effect fuel economy at all? I did a 2 hour run at high speed and couldn't tell tbh, it was only when I got home and had a proper look I though "humm".
We don't get snow here a lot, so by the time it next shows up the rubber will be dead, would be a shame to get them removed and then just sit in the garage.
any advice would be much appreciated - thanks!
You can use them year round, they won't last as long and have more drag so will effect economy. They'll also squeal more or corners etc. I'd just run them til they die then put some normal stuff on.
Worth considering is that it costs me an extra $5 in gas on my 75mile daily work commute with winter tyre than with all seasons.. so, it might make just as much sense to swap them out now if you are doing big mileage.
Wife knew a place that did dirt cheap part worns. Apparently they are only used for a couple of miles so virtually brand new and for £25 each. Bargain, off she goes, £100 later comes home over the moon. 'you can really hear the grip on them' she says. Yep, snow tyres 😆 like knobblys on a road bike.Used them though and although abit noisy have been ok for running around on a 2.0 Ford Focus.
