Having seen the Max Mosley interview on BBC1 earlier, and rerun it on the BBc website; I can only conclude that the son of the Facist has gone mad.

Calling the team owners and managers 'loonies' is defamation. Has he forgotten his Legal training?

I can only think that having a spanking session described in the News of the Screws and the death of his son has detached him from reality.

Or am I being unreasonable?

I'm just surprised that both sides seem determined to do this in public. Not making either FOTA or the FIA look good, which is daft as essentially they want the same thing

If calling someone a loony is evidence of insanity, the general ad hominem nastiness of your post would prompt what diagnosis doctor? 🙂

But I don't have to come to some sort of agreement with Mr Mosley, so calling him bonkers won't come and bite my arse.

Fota and mosely don't want the same thing. Fota don't want moseley ya see and who can blame them. Random rule changes, pushing cost saving and then adding kers but making the rules ensure that it doesn't have any advantage and so on...

Max and Bernie both seem like they've lost the plot IMO.

Bernie was being all pro Silverstone today WTF?

Max and his 40m budget cap! what sort of budget do Man U, Real Madrid etc operate? Seems like Max has lost touch with how much the F1 teams put into the economy, half of the small specialist engineering firms rely on F1 teams

Was at Silverstone today with 100,000 like minded GP fans - whatever happened to the old saying 'if it aint broke don't fix it'?

calling teams who disagree with him loonies doesnt suprise me... after all its not the first time he's resorted to name calling.

a certain ‘certified halfwit’ slur on a former F1 driver springs to mind

I personally thought the budget cap was a good idea, if it could mean that existing teams could survive and create interest from new teams.. KERS was a stupid idea, but the new aero rules have made things a little closer for overtaking (but only by a small margin).

I think that if it doesn't get resolved it will be the end of F1 /GP1 whatever it's going to be called.

F1 doesn't live in it's own little bubble. Massive changes are happening to motor manufacturing due to the economy, French, U.S and German government are pumping huge amounts of cash into the industry to support jobs/local economies and F1 has to move adjust in sympathy to this. The irony of the Renault or Mercedes teams getting victories as their factories shut down is just too much.

40 million is still quite a large amount to spend on a marketing budget when massive cuts are being made elsewhere in the company.

It's not straight expenditure though is it. They do get something back for it eg sales, sponsorship and to a smaller extent, technology

The budget cap isn't in keeping with the sport, nor is the ban on testing.
Its about being the best. if you can't afford to race then don't race.
However how about a comprise on a cap over 3 years, with a review after 2. Fixed rules, for the same period (except safety improvements)
Then a team can build a car / engine and develope it over that period. Someone like Lola and Cosworth could build and develop chassis/engines for sale to smaller teams, that are developed with by the manufacture and not on the teams budget. But that development is on all the engines they supply.
Just my thoughts
Oh and sack Mosley, the man has lost his crediblity.

Max Mosley = Circus clown. Why do the FIA let him lose in their organisation? Hes very unprofessional, even makes O'Leery look a clinical pro.

Jackie Stewart is famous for racing when men were men. What is Mosley famous for again? 😆

I think Max has some good ideas

A lot of people in F1 teams will be made redundant. Hundreds in each to comply with the total cost-cap. Alot of people in associated suppliers will be made redundant so in all thousands. This is really helping people in a recession huh?

So, this is is idea of a prudence in a recession- he wants teams to shed costs.
Why?
You still think hes got good ideas? The teams who compete earn alot from sponsorship etc etc. They're not complaining, they makes money. Occassionally, like any sport etc companies bow out. So what?

Calling someone a Looney and previous idiot-comments makes a normal person think 'does this guy actually think things through'?

I really do hope FOTA sets up a championship next year. Sick of Mosley and his doddering intervention.

Max and Bernie, more Bernie, have made a mint from F1.
Why do people watch F1? Some are fans of the sport, some are fans of the drivers, some are fans of the manufacturers (especially Ferrari).
Now that car production is being hit by the recession, the big manufacturers want to maximise other revenue streams, and why not. Nobody follows F1 because they are fans of Bernie or the FIA, therefore Bernie and the FIA are losing grip. It's pure greed from all parties.
