Pretty tough fixture for our first game - hope it doesnt knock all confidence as we didnt play too bad considering the situation we have been in. If Carroll gets service and support he will be a canny forward for the next few years.

I agree he is no angel, but I think he is probably ok 99% of the time and its just alcohol fuelled aggression issues.

He has been lots quieter recently, he is from a really rough family and area, loads of money and no guidance.

If he is sober you never hear of any bother with him. He has demons thats for sure and he seems to be addressing them in the last year or so.

When you hear him in interviews he seems a nice guy and actually comes across quite intelligent.

Weather or not that makes him a c**t thats up to you, in my opinion he has taken quite large steps to addressing his personal issues and deserves some credit for that.

Dont get me wrong though I'd never defend what he has done to others but as a NUFC fan I support him with his treatment and wish him the best for the future.

When he got his yellow card last night you could see his frustration and it makes you wonder if its his reputation that causes the ref to be a little liberal with his yellow cards. You could see JB mouthing a 'For ****s sake' when he got it, but then shrugged his shoulders and got on with the game.

A few years ago he would have probably headbutted the ref. Kevin Nolan also has his fair share of temper tantrums too.

Its like he is running on sand when you watch him on TV.

Yeah slow, but can put on a turn of speed when he needs to. When Carroll got a break and failed to spot Nolan in support for example. He was in a perfect position to receive a through ball from Carroll, but instead Carroll ran into three defenders.

I was annoyed.

Barton has been sober since he went to prison.
He's making a real effort to address and control his alcoholism and anger issues. I fail to understand how this makes him a c**t

Was watching the game with a couple of mates last night and spent most of the first half trying to remember the name of the spiv in Dad's Army, Private Walker. Maybe thats what Joey's into, 70's TV show, the obvious one being Porridge.

Joey Barton was caught on CCTV knocking an unidentified man to the ground. He then straddled him and punched him four or five times as his cousin threw food at the victim before the Premier League player punched him up to 15 times more.

Minutes later, the midfielder attacked a 16-year-old, punching him and leaving him with broken teeth.

Hes the sort that lashes out after a late night with his mates shouting 'leave it 'Kieron, it aint worth it'. When the other person is probably slight or leathered.

True I would, although If I'd spent the last 15 minutes goading and verbally abusing him I'd probably also think I got what I deserved to be quite honest.
