*If you don't like 'wendyball' (that never fails to amuse me that one), don't respond by telling me you don't or that you have never heard of him or whatever.

So - raging idiot or just misunderstood?

I thought he'd started to sort himself out and was playing quite well for Newcastle last season - I've heard what's been going on the last few days but what's sparked it all off?

Someone once described wendyball as 22 thugs and rapists chasing an inflated bladder round a field. Mr Barton would seem to fit right in.

Should be in jail

What for this time?
Hasn't he been punished for previous offences already?
I think the guy is an example of what's wrong with football, too much money, too much free time and no ability to manage himself.

scum, brings shame on us scousers

how would that work then? ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜‰

Added some much needed steel to NU last season. His previous behaviour has been fairly appalling, I thought he'd sorted that out and been on the up for a while.

Who knows? Be a good signing for one of the sides coming up.

overpaid potential date rapist and hair product aficionado tweets the noises in the vacuum that's standing in for a brain and figures out that it was not just him that was able to read them ='s stuffed career - give a moron too much money and access to a computer and sit back and watch a career destroyed in no-time.

And I don't mind wendyball, i just can't stand the idiots that play it. If I remember rightly, they were the people you went to school with who were bullies and didn't apply themselves other than running round some grass and end up being paid more than nurses and servicemen ๐Ÿ™„

fell out after contract negotiations stopped, they didn't want him really, no chance of sale so freebie to avoid wages.

Shame he was playing well but some of the new boys were meant to be better so not assured of 1st team place every week.

Say what you will he showed a hell of a lot of passion and drive for us and played out of his skin to get some of the best results we had.

So you want to jail him for not learning a lesson, the voice of tolerance has spoken.

He may be a thug but he's thug that quotes Orwell apparently. Not sure if that really changes my view on him though.

TJ, as ever you talk about a subject without knowing the full facts.

FACT: Barton was sent to Prison for assault, and released after he had served his time, so your statement "he should be in jail" is incorrect

FACT: Since serving his time Barton has become tea total, attends regular anger management classes and has started to work with young people who suffer with alcohol and drug addictions (I know this as I am friends with one of his first counselors, who he is still in touch with)

FACT: Since serving his time in Prison he has not re-offended, so your statement "I forgot - he did do some time - didn't seem to help him tho did it?" is also totally incorrect.

Well Done!

PS, barton was a revelation last season, back to his best. unfortunately the board at Newcastle seem to be totally incompetent, and it looks like Barton, and others have become sick of it. I think the tweets from Barton were meant to do one thing, get him out the club, and it's worked.

This article makes him look a bit like a scapegoat. The proof of the pudding etc, means that now the disruptive influence has gone, peace, harmony and winning games will be back on the agenda.

If that ever happens in Newcastle we shall celebrate with a fly past of Pigs

(a fan too but a realist) bring back Keegan and Terry Mac (again)

There was some talk that Ferguson was interested in him, and even as an egg chaser I was aware he had sorted himself out. ( Barton, that is)

As a Manchester City fan I guess I am as well qualified as anyone to have an opinion on Joey Barton.

When he first broke into the team the fans loved him for his commitment which was something that was sorely lacking from the team at the time. At City (as I guess at most clubs) home-grown players seem to get a tremendous amount of backing and good will from the fans.

Joey did seem to have an inflated opinion of his talent though and we probably suffered when he hogged all the set pieces. Overall though he was probably the first name on the team sheet for most fans so it was very disappointing when there seemed to be a never ending series of incidents including assaulting a teenage Everton fan, stubbing a cigar out in a youth team players eye and culminating with the attack on an Italian player called Dabo at the training ground.

By this time most fans were sick of making excuses for him and glad when he left for the barcodes. He certainly has the talent to play in the top flight but he seems to want to be top dog wherever he is.

A waste of talent really in a similar manner to his youth team near contemporary Stephen Ireland. If these two had different attitudes then they probably could still be in the squad at City despite the fantasy football shenanigans that has taken over recently.

I was actually referring to his latest outbursts on Twitter etc - complaining about his club (who took a flyer on him anyway) then going back over it after he was punished. Now his agent claims Manyuu and the Arse are after him - I would be very surprised to see Ferguson take him on.

As an integral part of the organisation you obviously both work for do you have any insights (because someone who has no association other than turning up to watch a game would'nt refer to it as "my" team would they....that would be very odd). ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nope, didn't get sent off. those pesky facts again TJ.

yes he 'punched' him in the chest, hardly touched him. as someone who has played to a fairly high standard stuff like that happens literally 20 times a game, means nothing.

I think he has pretty much sorted himself out, his past brings him greater scrutiny than other players, lets face it Keane and Scholes committed far worse atrocities on the football field and are revered by many.

Its only his past that makes anyone believe this isn't just another act of madness by Ashley.

As a Newcastle fan - I think he is brilliant. Served his time for wrong doings, he learned his lesson and turned himself around.

Best English midfielder last season - prove me wrong on this one.... Forget your Stevie G, Lampard etc etc. No England place for one reason alone, his face didnt fit. Hardly a shining example to other offenders that you can change things around and achieve success.

This latest saga though is mad - agreed terms verbally in Jan, then he got upset over Carroll leaving so pulled back and said he would wait and see what happened after season. Claimed he wanted to concentrate on performing through till end of season. Then end of season they announce they wont offer him any contract at all.

I understand his frustration - every fan wants to know where the investment of the 35M is - at the moment we are up 500k this summer, inc bringing the new lads in, who are unproven btw.

Now he finds himself unwanted, they didnt make him captain yet every fan wanted him captain for his passion alone. Then they take all his on on field responsibilities away (apparently) although he now says that this arguing thing is rubbish and to be honest I would trust him more than I would trust our board.

There are lots of questions us fans need answered.

Where is the squad investment, why are we using carroll money to pay new players wages over there 5yr contracts when we have ditched campbell/kuci/routledge/nolan - so they are savings made. We use Carroll money for training ground improvements but it turns out we have received funding from Olympic fund for under soil heating at Benton and improving St James dugouts.

What has happened to tv money, gate reciepts, surely if we hadnt sold caroll we would have still needed players.

Rant over! GRRRRRRRRRRR

But do you think the way he has conducted himself (regarding his Twittering) was a good thing? Bringing other players into the argument, wailing like a kid?
