applied for a job last week with a local authority i already work for. closing date was thursday adn the job advert siad interview would be this week.
was informed by email friday afternoon i had an interview 10 am tuesday.
got to work today and got a phone call from hr to say the interviews are cancelled sorry, asked why, told by hr they weren't sure.
spoke to the line manager in charge of the selection process, said it was out of her hands due to candidate withdrawal.
a little miffed about the whole thing.
am i withing rights to pursue why the candidate withdrawal meant the interviews are cancelled. is there a minimum number they have to interview?

Not in law but there may be a 'policy' that requires it.
you can do what you want. If you still want the job I would appear sympathetic and like I just wanted to know whether I needed to reapply or would be considered automatically etc
Kicking up a fuss is highly unlikely to help you get the job
thanks for the insight, i have a suspicion why it was cancelled buts that all it is, i'll be graceful and se what happens down the line
the candidate that was getting the job has pulled out 😉
Agree with Junkyard, it may just be better use of the interviewers time to see everyone in one hit as opposed to over several occasions, it's easier to compare all candidates when you've seen them back to back, this may work in your favour if you stand out enough
