We will be in touch
I had an interview this afternoon and as part of the offer was details of the contract which sounded a bit strange to me.
3X 1 month rolling contract followed by 6 month contract followed by whatever.
This doesn't sound right to me.
Is this how contracts are done these days?
TIA.
Essentially you're on a 3 month trial, then 6 months probation and then happy days in your case. Nothing wrong with that - 3 month trial fairly standard.
You have pretty much no comeback against dismissal in the first 12 months anyway (as long as it's done properly), so that's not something that should overly bother you - the fact the contract highlights your probation/trial periods is pretty good.

24 months now thanks to uncle dave and his cronies
what he said (tho you can't be dismissed on discriminatory grounds IIRC)

contracts are what they are. it's up to you to decide if you agree with the terms to decide if you want to accept the position based on its terms. if you're not happy with it you could try to negotiate though I suspect they'd say no unless you we're someone they really really want to get on board.

Good point, better to know you could be shafted at any minute rather than believing in something and having a bit of trust.
The interview was a bit of a funny affair, no CV sent prior to the interview for a sales job. A 3 hour interview where I only spoke for a maximum of 15 mins and just a cursory look at the CV. All, or what I believed to be, a bit strange then the rolling contract.

Perhaps we could forget the recession too, but I agree in the sentiment.
One to ponder over the weekend, I haven't been offered the position yet.
