Using a set of m frames with non vented lenses and in the winter or cold they steam up, using muc off stuff which has helped. However as the lens is cracked, nose piece falling apart and new persimmon vented m frame lens don't seem to come in heater shape was considering buying some 2nd hand radars or jawbones. Thoughts and opinions please
Have found both to mist up in the cold, my vented Jawbones seem to need a lot of air pushed through them to prevent this, not an issue on the road, no so good off, only have non-vented Radar's, and when it's real cold & dry they are good, but when damp and above freezing, they do mist up abit.
For use, I prefer the Radar's, as the Jawbones have a built-in blind spot with the frame, which the Radar doesn't. The Radar does have the issue that the lens is a pain to remove, harder than the M Frames, and depending on the frame material, can cause a lot of damage to the nose area finish; where as the Jawbone is really easy to swap lens.
I have some vented m-frames and new vented jawbones. Both fog up about the same amount, but the jawbones do fog a bit more around the nose, as there are only vents at the outside edges. I would imagine radars are similar to the m-frames.
to be honest, i have never found a pair of glasses that dont fog up when going slowly off road in certain conditions. The jawbones however de-mist very quickly (think newer oakleys have a magic coating on the lenses)
hmm maybe i should just get a vented lens for the m frames then. One day I'll get the all singing all dancing clear to black radars or jawbones 😀
I have vented jawbones and they are fine on the road bike where you have some speed up, but they steam up like mad on the MTB on steep climbs, and are pretty much unusable for that, sadly.
I've got Half Jackets for the MTB and I wish I had radars instead of both other pairs.
No blind spot for me with Jawbones though. And they don't do that thing that my M frames did where if you are going into the sun a bit all you can see is your own eye reflected off the inside of the lens.
Got radars with vented clear and non vented dark lenses. They do fog up but only when stationary but clear VERY quickly when you start moving again...
