...is well wide of the mark. Intelligent, oddly vulnerable but extremely amusing and v good company IME

Really THM? Really??

It must have been his evil clone I saw in the last round of HIGNFY that came across as a really rather repugnant & unlikeable man.

But then, I am only judging him on his opinions rather than his affability as a luncheon partner..

We will have to agree to disagree......

You went ad hoc waaaay too soon

I refer you to page 2....

I'm questioning whether it's sensible to reply to someone who's clearly not equipped for this debate, but I'll give you the benefit of my doubts one last time.

Here's the kettle - over there's the pot!

Micheal Gove may have the most puncheable face in politics... but probably does have the intellect and did do some interesting stuff with prisons.

I'd vote for him doing more of that. Laundry duty, washing the lavatories, that kind of thing.

uses half truths, non sequiturs and pomposity to win debates, in just the same way,

I didn't realise he had an account on STW.

Does a troll have to be a comment on a thread, or can a thread itself be classified as a troll?

Because this one certainly is, and a jolly good one at that (four bleedin pages)!

<Tips hat>

Why thank you Daniel. And I don't believe the fat lady has even started her vocal exercises!

Now, after four bleedin pages, is there a chance that anyone would like to discuss the original point, without the usual STW anti-privilege bigotry and liberal virtue signalling?

As I alluded to in earlier posts, JRM has developed a sizeable cult following amongst younger voters. And in spite of his borderline ridiculous appearance and countenance, I believe him to be a very capable politician with a brilliant intellect and a clear-thinking mind which makes him either potentially a future star in government, or very dangerous.

He's awesome, I for one just want my betters to tell me what to do, where to go and how to arrange my cuttlery and then I can just get on with shovelling cess and growing an eminently doffable forelock.

OP, as you are aware Mr R-M is an insy-winsy bit RW and a left - footer to boot (sorry). Neither should be, nor will be toleratesd - this is STW after all and standards have to be kept at the appropriate level. 😉

Further communication on such topics should be discouraged....

He's a Brexshiteer too....

Too desperate. Davidtaylforth wouldn't have gone for that. He'd have sat back and let someone else try to 'put the thread back on track' before using his stoker a bit more.

8/10 for the original 'thread as troll'.

Minus two to 6/10 for not being able to let the hand develop before going all-in.

OOH my aching sides

thank god you are so polite to all the politicians, especially the Scottish ones, who you disagree with

As always you are an example to us all ...i shall leave others to decide in what way 😉

No one is anti catholic on here ,anti religious granted[ or rational and fact based ]as I prefer to call it but not anti catholic. .PS Jesus said turn the other cheek not moan relentlessly about it for ever . What was it he said about the rich and the kingdom of heaven again?
What are your "mates" chances?

Hmmmm...

"Rees-Mogg is a supporter of zero-hour contracts, arguing that they benefit employees, including students, by providing flexibility and could provide a route into more permanent employment.[39] He rejected criticism by Vince Cable and others that they were exploitative as "the standard response of the left".[39]

Writing in The Daily Telegraph in May 2013, the Eurosceptic Rees-Mogg, asked whether it was time to make a "big open and comprehensive offer" to UKIP. He said collaboration would be straightforward as policies were similar on "many issues" and most Conservatives would prefer Nigel Farage to Nick Clegg as deputy PM.[40] His remarks angered his party leadership whilst UKIP said it was against any formal arrangements.[41] Paul Goodman, editor of the political blog ConservativeHome, said he believed a short-term pact was both impractical and undesirable.[41]

Rees-Mogg is a monarchist.[42] Regarding global warming he thinks solutions that do not hinder technological progress should be sought.[43]

He opposes same-sex marriage, saying that he is "not proud" of it being legal and that it will alienate "traditional supporters" of his party.[44][45] Rees-Mogg's reasoning for this is that gay marriage does not align with the Catholic faith, saying "It's purely a religious matter. It's a question of what is a sacrament."[46]

Initially a supporter of Donald Trump in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election,[47] he distanced himself from the then-Republican nominee after the Donald Trump and Billy Bush recording surfaced in October 2016.[48] Rees-Mogg later described Trump as being "sympathetic to the UK" out of "genuine affection" for the country.[49]

Rees-Mogg campaigned for a "Leave" vote in the 2016 EU membership referendum.[50]

Might just have been plausible as a troll but way too much emotional engagement with the subject for it to work properly. Now in danger of slouching towards Edinburgh...

On ZHC he's spot on....both mini THMs have benefitted from them immensely so thank God (are we allowed to do that) that we don't have any of the nutters trying to ban them.

Sky News last week:

“If we leave without a deal, the great news is we don’t have to give the European Union any money at all. This has clearly been established in EU, UK and international law by an excellent report by a House of Lords committee. So that’s the first thing. We keep all our money if we leave without a deal.
And we then trade on WTO terms, which is how we do about 60% of our global trade currently. So it’s a really strong position. It’s maintaining other international agreements. It’s not that there is a complete vacuum- It’s that we just fall back on older arrangements that we use with other countries.”

“Under the 1972 European Communities Act and as a member of the European Union, ECJ judgments are the highest law in the land. They overturn UK law. That cannot continue after Brexit.”

“Can the ECJ act as a tribunal, in the way that the WTO has a tribunal, and the European Court of Human Rights acts as a tribunal? Which may then be accepted into British law, but can be refused. That’s an entirely separate question.”

“Leaving the EU is a fantastic opportunity for the United Kingdom and potentially for the EU as well.”

Rees Mogg is a classic upper class twit. He took his nanny with him when canvassing and said " doesn't everyone have one" when questioned on this

He is also more than a bit dim in the "nous" sense- so a perfect tory leader.

He would be a huge electoral liability tho - so I hope he is appointed.

Maybe one day your frankly weird sociopathic obsession with having constant arguments with the people you feel have slighted you will allow you to live as a normal member of society. Imagine that?

I don't think so, actually.

Most of the full-time trolls on here are just so obvious.

No class, no quality.

Nothing remotely in the league of asking where one can procure a 33 tooth narrow/wide (genius). That one actually got a few people and was one of the best.

The mark of a classy troll is not the offense or exasperation through sheer monotony that seems to pass muster on here now.

The mark of a classy troll is the number of people who make at least three increasingly strident posts before having an "oh........bollocks" moment.

Indefensible both the content of the link [ criminal IMHO IANAL] flashy and the fact that this is how you address an issue on a Tory

Obviously you will be equally critically of Tory and not just do pointless whatabouterry

Anyway back on topic, having just watched him on NN, what a smarmy condescending git. Though I did enjoy his admission that the talks might go badly and leave people wishing they'd made plans - a scenario of apparently equal weight to it going well...

I'm just surprised flashy hasn't posted a whataboutery link on Islam given that Mogg's particular brand of Christianity was being slagged off earlier.

So I think that reinforces that whilst some of his votes are at the behest of the whip, others are governed by his faith. I can't find any reason not to respect that.

Even when they support illegal discrimination based on which adults they find sexually attractive and have sex with...? You cannot be serious?

You were talking about respect. I see no reason to respect someone whose opinions I find abhorrent, and palming [s]off to[/s] in the church is a normal behaviour.

Thing is hes talking his usual shite about heathrow noise

while Windsor & Eton are still above WHO limits of 55db the difference between the outer areas and the inner ones are huge (ive lived in both)

Go really close & its unbearable, when the noise is so loud that you have to pause your conversation, (every 90 seconds) it really isnt a nice way to live

[img] [/img]

as someone whos baby woke up every morning at 5-30 with the 1st flight of the day I can assure you that its not something you 'get used to'

the effects are real
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3971384/

hes just another bullshitting politician whos happy to ignore the truth so he can justify his ideology
