After being irrationally passionate about this marque since my teens, I've finally got one of Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget's vehicles and it's lovely.
My love affair began in 1986 when my then girlfriend's dad bought a brand new 900 Turbo T16S. He later part-exed it for a 9000CDE, a very fast exec saloon. I was bowled over by the styling, performance and quality of the brand and loved the quirkiness of the product and to some extent the owner base.
Yesterday I picked up this little darling:

My stage 1 9-5 Aero rocks.
My Dad had three Saabs - a 1980 900 Turbo in white, a 1983 900 Turbo in black and finally a 1988 9000 Turbo in what can only be described as "nipple pink".
The 9000 was an amazing Q car, it was fitted with a Mitsubishi turbo and went like an absolute missile when on boost. I may have "entertained" a couple of girlfriends in it...
The Aero has the Mitsubishi turbo. The Lpt etc have the smaller turbos.

You will shit your pants the first time it does a DPF clean and sparks come out of the exhaust.

The car has the "infotainment" system (Grundig?) but came with no map discs. What do I need and how much will it cost?

Mines got the Harman & Kardon 6disc dash head unit.
I have a Bangernomics 900 Talladega bought for £250. 1998 vintage & it's still a nice car to drive if a bit tatty. It's used to transport the new dog to work.
I used to sell Saab's years ago and must have drove every model that was produced in the 80's and 90's
Can't speak for the later models as I'd got out of it in 2002 but some of the older ones were ace.
Favourites were 9-3 Viggan, 9000 Aero and I had a T16 s that had been specced in the 80's by Mohammed what's his name from Harrods for one of his managers.
Had the 9000 Aero upto 147 mph on a " private " section of the M5 😀

I love Saabs! Had a mate who had a succession of 99 turbo's that we went everywhere in. You always felt like if you were in a collision with an artic, the artic would come off worse. Which was just as well as he drove like a ****ing loon!!!

I've never seen a Vectra estate that looks as fanbleedintastic as my 9-3X 😉
If I'd bought a Vectra, I wouldn't be looking out of my living room window and swooning at the loveliness of the 93-X
