Anyone know if you can install the I Tunes software on an external drive instead of your internal hard drive?
Work laptop is being replaced and i wont have administrator rights - dont have own PC/Laptop at all

There's no reason that it shouldn't work from another drive, but if you have no admin priviledges on the machine it might still deny you access. Most SysAdmin people are open to bribes though so just get them to sort you out should only cost a bag of doughnuts!
on a related note - do you know how to backup iTunes purchases to an external drive rather than CD/DVD (which seems to be the only options iTunes gives you)
It depends - are you installing fresh
or are you amend an already installed version?
john - just make a copy of the file via windows explorer/ finder and paste it into your external drive
I'm not sure you can do it via iTunes itself
