Based on some slightly dodgy average balances across the year, my annual return is about 1.75%

Not great, but there's actually not much in there now. I'm happy with that return for the gamble on winning my mortgage paid off.

£50 here on a holding of 14k-ish. Not great, but not terrible since it's tax free and my ISA and savings interest allowance are maxed out.

Alternative strategy for those on the max pot.  Start January with £45k and get prizes paid as bonds then cash in winnings after December draw for Xmas spends.  Rinse and repeat.

£100 on a full pot this month.

Takes me to £2,600 for the year which I think is 5.2% return so I've done okay.

Might squeeze into the January draw before it all comes out to pay for expensive things 🙁

Great plan. Now, how do I find £45k before January?

On a more serious note, is it worth paying a lump into Premium Bonds? I know you can just withdraw your investment at anytime so no real risk but there seems to be a very mixed return.

Any winnings will only be eligible for the draw when then have completed a full calender month in your account? So the government/ns&i will be earning on your winnings rather than yourself.

No.

If for instance you won something on 1 December and had automatic reinvestment selected the new bonds would be eligible from January onwards. If you just bought new bonds on 1 December they would have to sit there for the whole of January and would be eligible from February onwards.

Im happy with £250 for me, although it's a rather less scintillating £50 for Mrs Lawman this time around. Still a lot better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

And in response to a question earlier, I got my winnings last month on 8th Nov, so roughly a week into the month

£30k invested and got £150 this month. That took my annual winnings up to about what I could have got by putting it in an interest paying account. Last year was the same also, plus there is always the prospect that I could win big.

Had full holding for 3 draws now...  running at a 2.8% return if I extrapolate that to 12 months.

Although that's maybe not a fair figure as theres 9 more draws/months to go for me, to make 1 year.

£25. Not bad since I reduced my bond holding by 80% recently. Another reduction incoming down to a 2% holding for next month.

£150 on £50k...

Think I'm gonna pull 20k out before April and bang it into an S&S ISA or some sort of global index fund in an ISA wrapper.

not had a penny in ages, have sat with between 5 and 10k for last six months, and this month was the first draw with a full pot, and another fat zero.  It'll be getting raided for the S&S ISA come April

I got £800 last month on full holding, so if my maths is correct I can expect pretty much zero for for the next 8 months.

I though I'd won nothing last month as it wasn't showing up on the website this early.. But then I got an email around Jan 7th I think saying I'd won something... So that was nice...

... But it's still under performing compared to my normal savings account and my cash ISA.

Looking at that list I've not won anything big.  🙁   I'll be amazed if I win anything this month.

I don't like looking at the list of big winners in advance – I just wait and check my app on the morning.

I havent won anything ever, but i just tried to login and they want to send me a code on an old number. The number they have to call them "is not registered", and their helpline is an old twitter account.

Perhaps Im on a hijacked version of their site

https://www.nsandi.com/

If that isn't the site you were on then you need to log in to that one and change your password ASAP in case they have stolen your logon details.

This has been explained many times on here but here goes...

The high value draw winners are announced on the 1st working day of the month.

The normal/pleb prizes are revealed on the 2nd working day of the month so you can check via the App or website. The text messages and emails are always a few days behind.

The number does exist - I just called it out of curiosity.

Have you tried the live chat option? Blue circle, bottom right of website.
