We will be in touch
Not entirely sure what that involves, but saw a tweet from McLaren F1 supporting Mind and raising awareness of men's mental health. I think this is also they second most important day of the year for Richard Herring.
As someone who knows of two men within my life, one close and the other more distant who have taken their lives within the last 2 months it can only be a good thing to raise awareness and open up conversation about.
I know this place is normally a place of great support and somewhere that people feel able to open up in semi-anonimity where people can be completely honest about their feelings - wouldn't it be great if real life were like that. Where men felt that they could talk openly about their problems, where showing emotion wasn't a sign of weakness, where asking for help wasn't a giant hurdle, thinking that you're going to be seen as a failure, and being the invisible barrier that stops people from getting the help they need.
I know of many women, my wife included, who will talk openly about mental health, depression and anxiety. But, I know of very few men outside my closer circle of friends who will even broach the subject.
So, just like the way this post started, I didn't really set out with any real point other than, look after your mental health, don't be afraid to ask for help or just use this place to get something out, those who care about you will always be with you, and normally a bunch of strangers on the internet are more than willing to help in any way they can.
Is this a real thing or kickback against all the days dedicated to others? I'm primarily asking because my employer actively champions diversity and inclusion at every opportunity but this doesn't even get a passing mention? Men's mental health is massively under represented, and is something that needs to be brought out into the open.

My employer did a thing about it this morning and November is Men's Health Month too, so we've done some content on MH and testicular cancer this year.
Send your employer my way if they need help getting with the programme, I could do with some extra wedge.

Surely, those are two unrelated things? A day where we focus on men's issues has nothing to do with diversity and inclusion in your workplace? Or are you a mid-wife?
This guy at Leeds station the other day... you don't have to hide things... find a way to talk...

A 23-year-old man who stands at Leeds Railway Station with a sign explaining that "It's OK to talk" said one conversation could change a life.
Surely, those are two unrelated things? A day where we focus on men’s issues has nothing to do with diversity and inclusion in your workplace?
I have no idea, hence my question. I’m probably going to get flamed for even mentioning it now which will do wonders for my mental health.
As a company we celebrate International Women’s Day under the diversity and inclusion banner so is International Men’s Day different somehow?

Seemed like a logical thought to me, my company also very similar and was wondering the same.
We make a big thing about International Women's Day at work to celebrate empowerment, inclusion and equality, and we celebrate International Men's Day to talk about mental health, prostate cancer etc.
I'm assuming, though I cannot speak for those who identify as women, that the different approaches are taken because these are the things the two sexes/genders feel are important to them.
FFS when will they do an international women's day??????
I beleive it started (or got popularity*) due to all the moaning man-children on international women's day.
Happy to see that it has been repurposed for good.
*There is a "day" for pretty much any random thing you can think of, and probably a Patron Saint for it too.
Surely, those are two unrelated things?
IMD seems primarily focused on mental health.
That's the inclusion angle.
HTH 🙂

8th March. Isn’t Google a ****ing wonderful thing?

That's how we celebrate IWD so doing the same as your employer for IMD would be wonderful rather than the sweet FA we currently do.

That's what I was concerned about, hence my original question. Celebrating them both but for different purposes as shown above seems sensible to me.

Is this "Whoosh" or double bluff?
We may never know.

I'm taking a wild guess that multi21 knows this, and was posting as an ironic mimic to all the posts from men on international women's day.
My main reason for thinking this is that I was going to post similar!
So we get international mens day and Steak & BJ day (14th March 22) too, woo-hoo it’s great to be a man!
Is there an International Non Binary Day?
Half genuine question....
14th July

A few years back, the classic "It's international women's day, when is international men's day ?" question was asked in a mixed gender work meeting to which one of the wise asses replied "Every other day of the year", needless to say, some found it hilarious, some not so funny at all 🙂
Is there an International Non Binary Day?
There's a national donut day if that counts for anything*... it looks like a zero and zero is a feature of all number bases and almost all counting systems throughout history.
*I'm guessing it doesn't.
Won't somebody please think of the children.
Is there an International Non Binary Day?
19th September is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. It's something I embrace every year.
Fully dosed up on anti-depression meds, 3 beers in and watching Gold Member. I like this Mens day.

Same here, not a mention and nothing on the company home page...
Although TBH I'll admit to not really being too bothered, it's not really been promoted that I've seen and I don't know if it's pitched at raising awareness of male specific mental health, physical wellbeing or other "Men's issues" or just another excuse to indulge in a bit of organised oafishness...

I went to a wedding on that day once. All the guests were given hats and eyepatches, the speeches were hilarious and I lost a swordfight with a 10yr old bridesmaid🙈
or just another excuse to indulge in a bit of organised oafishness…
Well, it's a great way of identifying idiots who like that sort of thing, so you can avoid them the rest of the year
Those who aren't aware of this should bone up.
Not in our house....
Its "your a disappointment" day.. (as usual)
I lost a swordfight with a 10yr old bridesmaid
I hope that's not a euphemism
