MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Need a bit of help; Am helping out a mate with some webby stuff.
Basically his company's website was hosted off one of his employee's Servage accounts. Boss-man naturally wanted to migrate to their own Servage account which is where I've come in to 'assist'.
Website migration - check, email migration - check, so all good there. However, their Exchange-based webmail (MS Exch 2003) does not want to resolve. Now this isn't too big a problem as it's not like they use it loads, but I need to do what I can to sort it.
My guess is that I need to setup a sub-domain or another record somewhere but I really don't know. The original, previously working OWA url was http://mailgate.DOMAINNAME.co.uk/exchange. I've not touched the Exchange settings other than by amending the email collection passwords - but am not really that au fait with this kind of stuff...
Any ideas please STW collective?!
I think you need to setup a recipient policy in exchange for the domain or subdomain that you wish the server to collect email for.
does the subdomain resolve at all, not from the exchange server?
what about from a standard broadband connected PC? Does it resolve from there? To the right address?
Hi Spawn - thanks for the tip - however - I've not changed the domain for which email is collected from though - effectively deleted the website & associated email accounts from one ISP's hosting & uploaded their site / recreated email accounts on the SAME ISP's hosting - no dns record amendments required.
Full fat email works fine, it's just the OWA webpage which doesn't resolve externally.
Hi Samuri - nope - the subdomain des not resolve externally. Ta
assuming the root domain still resolves you need to find who owns it and get them to add the subdomain then. This may or may not cost money.
