Ok - I work from home 2 or 3 days a week. When I do go in I commute different distances depending on weather and time on the road bike. I hate carrying my corporate laptop on the bike for this reason.

Corporate laptops use smartcards that setup VPNs so at home we get seemless access to corporate LAN. No VPN software client is used as would traditionally be used.

At the moment I use webmail and web communicator over my own Macbook at home which is grand - recently though we have had hardware phones replaced with Cisco IP Communicator softphones. Ideally I would like to use a compatible system at home but a one that doesnt require a client VPN being connected.

Has anyone managed to get an Iphone app that would allow me to connect into a VOIP system over the web? I presume it would depend if our VOIP system had a web facing gateway setup. This would also be handy when away from my desk in work (no corporate wless though) so again id come in over 3g.

Thinking about it I dont know why I want it really as i just setup for call forwarding onto my mobile. It would be fairly cool if i could though.

Depends entirely on what they allow. We get OWA, Outlook Anywhere and Lync access from outside, everything else (including intranet, etc) MUST go through 2-factor authentication.

Think its the same here - just wondering if Cisco IPBX had a web facing interface as Office communicator has.

Intranet/docs etc is 2 factor auth here too if coming across web - if using corporate build its a smart card which i suppose is also a 2 factor authentication.
