If not, where is worth a visit nearby? Meeting up with mates off differemt trains so will be there for a couple of hours. Will be there for the weekend for the EDF Rugby Semi Finals so also looking for decent pubs/places to eat etc.

So can anyone help?

Thanks

I cant remember there being any pubs at the station that I would go in. Its only a ten min walk into the town centre though

have no knowledge of Cov pubs, but I'd have thought that if there are rugby semi's on chances are they will all be full of rugger buggers and hence the normal atmosphere of Cov station pubs will be displaced for a day!

best place to go out in Cov is, well just out of it. get a train to Birmingham. You could get a taxi to Leamington or Warwick for a decent pub.

The Rocket is right next door. If you come out the station with the taxi rack in front of you it is straight ahead about 100 yds. Entrance is on opp side. Perfectly decent pub. Not the smartest you'll find but I've been in plenty of times and it's fine.
There are quite a few places in town to eat/drink. Priory place has a couple of expensive bars. Medieval spon street has a few good ones too.
Not so sure about pubs near the Ricoh Stadium. But it's not the nicest area of town...

As a student I lived a stone's throw from the rail station and always went into town to drink - can't say that I ever remember finding anywhere for quality beers though.

There are some tough parts of Coventry but away from the station. I believe Cov was a bad place to be before my time there in the mid-90s but seemed to be an early adopter of city-centre tv cameras and also banning drinking on the streets so maybe that helped.

As mentioned above, the Rocket is fine for a few pints while you wait. An alternative is Inspires which does loads of nice belgian beer. Head towards the city centre through the under pass, after a about 5 minutes walk you start getting to the shopping precinct - head for the bar in the bottom of the old church spire.

Thirded for the Rocket. Nothing special but perfectly fine and 30 secs from the stations up the steps to Leamington Road (not the main exit but ask someone and they'll be able to point you in the right direction).

Inspire is probably a better bet if you're fussy but is 10 mins walk into town
