A day spent laying wooden flooring does it for me.

"I'll just walk up the stairs backwards for a week shall I?"

Digging. Bending down with a spade, then lifting the heavy load and moving it.
I've got pathetic hamstrings.

Zilog beat me to it - most folk will benefit from doing at least toddler squats for around 5 - 10 mins a day.

Over a potty.

Nordic curls if you want strong hamstrings, squats are more glutes / quads depending on the depth.

I dread to ask this, but what's a Nordic curl*

*other than something found in an unflushed Nordic toilet

Just tried that squat 'bring sit bones to heels'!?! I've got at least a 6" gap between them.

A great exercise to prevent injury in any explosive running sport..

I do them every week with my coach (you can stick your legs under a bar / stall bars, but ideally you need someone to sit on your ankles).

Very unlikely the average adult can do a toddler squat, you've lost the range of motion in the ankles (although you can get it back). I'm currently working on this twice a week to perfect my single leg squat, as I can't sit right at the bottom with feet/knees together without falling over backwards as my weight is too far back....

Definitely. I'd add them into your warm up.
