That's well below "racist" on my list of insults, but is less funny and includes more potty language than the dig at Americans that provoked it. I always assumed septics were fair game in the same way as France is fair game for CNBC reporters.

I think the disagreement is about whether "pikey" is racist. I maintain that it is.

I think you'll find I haven't yet used a national stereotype yet. Apart from accepting that it's no surprise to find prejudice in France given that just under 1 in 5 voters voted for a far right presidential candidate.
