I'm a big fan of Curb and Larry David but I caught a couple of episodes of OFITG recently and was surprised at how similar the format of both shows are.

Both characters, often unwittingly, offend someone and it comes back to bite them on the behind at the end of every episode.

I'd completely forgotten about OFITG, and would have been too young to appreciate it's genius when it was on originally, so it only clicked when I caught it on repeat.

I know other comedy shows, like Reginald Perrin or Fawlty Towers (also, some mothers do ave em?) had similar setups and came before OFITG but it's just the similarity of the main characters and the structure of an episode that struck me.

Apparently the Americans did their own version of OFITG (with Bill Cosby?) too, which I was also unaware of.

It doesn't affect my enjoyment of Curb at all BTW...

Really like CYE. I thought your idea was nonsense but giving it thought over a brew your right in a way. CYE is self obsession and Victors just a bit grumpy.

CYE is really a continuation of Seinfeld, which ran from a year before OFITG. The George character in Seinfeld is very similar to the Larry David character in CYE, most probably because both characters were conceived and written, in part at least, by Larry David.
