im wanting to transfer certain songs from my itunes library on to a friends ipod, not sure how you go about it. thats without affecting my library.

copy the songs to a portable media and import them into his itunes
the problem is that itunes will store them in a proprietry format unless you;ve told it not to, and most people don't.
the best way is to use a third party tool, there are many available, to extract the relevant songs from your ipod to a pc. Of course, if you read them into itunes via itunes or bought them from the itunes store, they'll be DRM'd, which means you need to rip them to CD/DVD (I think)
plug your friends ipod into your computer and move them in?
