Maybe an idiotic question but...
Can a sim card for an iphone (O2) be used in another handset? Reception at home is getting worse and I want to know if its the O2 signal or just the iphone (rep for being less than perfect in marginal signal areas).
Thanks

Yes it can, providing the new handset is unlocked to work with O2 SIMs.
There's nothing special about an iPhone SIM card.

... unless it's an iPhone 4 SIM, in which case it's a smaller form factor micro-SIM and will need an adapter to use it in a regular phone.
