After spending the weekend bashing my head against a wall I've finally got my NAS device accessible via the remote app they supply..
(why didn't the "update" option include the add-on updates? eh? eh?)

So what media player for streaming?

I've seen recommendation on here for aceplayer & goodplayer, and gotten 8player from else-where..
Aceplayer lite won't let me get to the NAS, 8player lite will and seemingly works very very well though I can see lip sync issues (avi file) but think this is simply how it will be (goodplayer has no free version to try).

Any other recommendation? Thoughts on why you choose the one you use?

I'd be the one recommending AcePlayer?

Why can't it get to the NAS?

Most UPnP/DLNA media servers should show up under Media Explorer->Media Servers

Thoughts on why you choose the one you use?

First one I found that did what I wanted. It was 69p.

yep you recommended it, I meant it's 'locked' on the lite version

69p is a good price... better than £2 and deciding there are better players out there

Ah right. Well it should work on the pay version - certainly sees my Windows Media Library running on my PC okay.

Didn't even know there was a lite version to be honest. 69p. Call me reckless but I just went for it on the basis of the reviews 😀

as I say 69p does make it pretty painless, it was the whole "there all £2".
Admittedly I'm skint, jobless and have <shhh> no real wish to get a job either.. so cheap is the name of the game
(the ipad was my 40th present btw)

Several streaming apps available,
have tried boxee, nice interface but very flaky, could not find my media library 95% of the time.

Tried a few others and settled on VLC streamer at the mo.
