Looking to buy a tablet as a Christmas present,iPad 2 mini is currently £220, which is probably a bit more than I want to pay, however my son has had one of these for a year and it's been faultless.Does anyone have any positive experience with any similar priced (or cheaper )android tablets?I owned a nexus 7 a while back but it became un usable after a year or so.I was also thinking about the hudl 2 but have been reading about a lot of problems with these lately.
Should I just buy the iPad?
Ta.

Don't discount a windows 8/10 tablet. More a question of what you want to run on it.

I'd say more a question of what you may already have spent / invested in.

Jnr eldest B is getting a Mini 2 for his birthday (just after Christmas) as we do the Apple Family thing - bit of control over it, and he can use any apps we all buy.

FWIW I've had a Nexus on test and it was good, Hudl is the best bang for buck

I like windows,I've had a Lumia 920 for almost 3 years and it's still as fast/reliable as the day I bought it.The tablet will be for my 10 year old though and I don't think you can get all the games and fun kids stuff with windows like you get on ios /android can you?

I just bought a couple of these as presents the other day.

Been playing around with them and they seem snappy enough for £100. I've not had any longer term use out of them, I've just been firing games and apps onto them to see how it handles, which has been surprising not bad at all. might pick myself up one aswell.

yes, It's been in daily use since I got it. Great tablet, does everything i need it to, battery life is great compared to old Hudl, really can't fault it.

I'm not generally a fan of Apple products and prefer Android, mainly because it's more open and free to do whatever you want on it. I like to be able to use Kodi, Showbox etc for example

Though I know Apple do make extremely good products, and most people are more than happy with them.

Anyway if you can deal with an 8inch screen the new Nvidia Shield Tablet is very good at £150, ift's just been updated to Android 6 and comes with an SD Card slot, so the memory can be increased easily.

There is also the Nexus 9, which is available in 16GB for under £200, I recently got my wife one for £135 after cashback offer.

iPad mini all the way, very easily re-sale after a couple of year without loosing too much money, then upgrade to newer model
