how much memory do you need?
Just pop a (micro)SD card in to expand it. Oh wait a minute...
if you want to have lots of music/ films/ photos etc on them then as much as possible - my 32gig itouch and iphone are now pretty much full and I have to limit how much music I put on
if you just want to use it for the apps - and accessing content stored on your network via wi-fi then not very much
More than happy with the 32gb on my ipad and iphone.
depends, if you want all your music on there or lots of videos, then lots.
I have an 8gb though and have most of my music and swap videos around when travelling.
1. download i tunes
2. rip all music and videos you own
3. look at the number at the bottom that say how big it all is
4. add 20%
5. buy Ipod with capacity > that number

You can use an SD card to copy stuff to and from a Touch or iPad or iPhone. You just get the Camera Kit. Most other devises only have SD expansion 'cos they have bugger-all onboard memory...
