We have hosting & email with a third party company and since moving over to BT broadband we have constant issues.
The issue being that the firewall used by the hosting company is constantly blocking the BT IP address(s) therefore we cannot access our emails or web address's.
Why?
The firewall may be set up to use specific ranges of IP address. Moving broadband has likely changed what you had. Hosting company should be able to see what is beig blocked and fix their side or advise you on how to change yours.
What exactly does this error mean ?
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'jo@awl.co.uk', Server: 'mail.awl.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Your client can't connect to the mail server for some reason. Either the connection is being blocked or the server is refusing connections (either globally or for you directly).
Thats what I thought, just wanted to check.....it appears BT have smtp issues....thanks
Well bear in mind that's not an smtp problem.
Your error message is for a pop server, typically for recieving mail. SMTP is for outgoing mail.
Have you contacted your third party supplier to see if you need to change any of your mail settings for your new adsl account?
