My research says t-mobile (my current PAYG carrier) but would I be better off getting a sim abroad, or do you know of anything better?

Cheers in advance.

Find a Cafe/hotel/town with free wifi

I can do all of the above in a small Alpine town, where are you going?

depends where you need the access. Will you near wifi? e.g. in most public places in CH there is a swisscom run wifi network that is waaaaaaaaay cheaper to log into than 3G.

Free wi-fi or PAYG in the country you're going to.

Thanks, I'm off to Menorca in a couple of weeks so wondered if anyone new of any local sims that may be a good deal, I don't think the apartments have WiFi, but just in case I don't want to sign up to anything yet.

Cheers.

Find a local cafe with free wifi, and remember you are on holiday so log off. World will still be here when you get back, London might not be though

When you arrive, see which operator your mobile picks up on roaming and then pop down to the shops and get a PAYG (Prepago) with that operator. You're only talking a couple of €uros difference between operators for a holiday's worth.

If you really need something reliable for anytime connection then a PAYG prepaid sim for a local operator from the supermarket and either an unlocked MIFI dongle set to use the correct APN settings or if you can afford to take your phone sim out of the phone, stick the PAYG sim in there and tether it, if you have a phone that can do that.

Thanks for that everyone, but as your here...

If I get a foreign PAYG sim, will I still be able to watch BBC news video's?
I know I won't be able to watch the I player, but I wasn't planing to anyway.
Cheers.

If you mean on the news pages, then some yes and some no. If I think about it there must be a licencing reason in that F1 accompanying a news story would be a no-no but a BBC in house report could be seen, or something like that.

why not just stay in the UK - you can watch BBC then.

iDave, honestly, I would rather stay here than go & melt abroad. The trouble is my family want to go, so I need something to do whist avoiding getting burnt to a crisp, there is only so much abuse my manhood can take you know đŸ˜‰
