At least we won’t do the same thing today as I’ve done the ‘bonus’ thing.

Live Music. I never realised I'd miss so much.
This was hard to get looking decent! I think it's ok 🙂

The music ones are great.

27. Music

I did a large version of this for my oldest daughters nursery as a thank you when she left.

I don't have a picture of it framed but it was approx. 32" x 6"

Yeah DezB, wholly uninspiring prompt today wasn't it. I was going to do a drawing of a farrier shoeing a horse but I couldn't be arsed.

Not had any inspiration of late, but here’s a better crop of shoes sketched earlier. Look sharp innit

‘Tighter crop’. Not ‘better’. They were some truly awful shoes 🤣

PS those pink Docs are ace. I find shoes on feet are difficult to represent well. There’s a ‘weight/gravity/tension’ element to it. DezB nailed it.

I don't think posting "Malvern Rider"'s stuff from last year is quite in the spirit of things... 🤔

Cheers chaps. Well, that's it over for another year. Great drawings from everyone as usual. Next year I might try and use my crap imagination rather than copying and making drawings from bits of random images of t'interweb.

Just bought some oil pastels that were in the sale so might have a go with those and post the results over the next few months.

Last one.

I know my limitations, and one is that I can only produce anything half decent if I copy. It’s one of the reasons I went off art and produced nothing between the 80s and 2010s. I’ve accepted that now and am enjoying putting my own style on copies of photos - more satisfying if its my own photo, of course. Anyway, one more copy due and don’t forget there’s the weekly drawing prompts on the Inktober site.

@jonm81

so probably not the best quality but on the hobby machine I have it really struggled with the fine details of the ferret face. The rest came out ok though.

Sorry, I decided try to acid etch onto real metals.
I've been trying to use press n peel designed for circuit boards but I'm really struggling with both getting it printed (mate was laser printing for me and giving me the printed the next weekend when we were riding) and the details/consitency.

Getting this on vinyl seems the next option for etching so I'm wondering if this is a limit of your hobby machine or if I looked about if I could get it done on a "pro" machine somewhere.

I've been trying to cut by hand on some printable inkjet film but its a real pita... one mistake and I have to start again.

From the initial research it looks like the "pro" machines are mainly just bigger?

@stevextc

I am not sure what the pro machines can do. I think there was a thread on here recently where there were a couple of folks who do vinyl printing/cutting professionally. They may be able to give you a better answer on what is possible. I did a couple of test cuts and could do rectangles down to 0.2mm but it was struggling with curves and complex shapes at that point. 0.5mm features seemed OK though for the couple of wiggly test lines I cut.

EDIT: This is the other thread - https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/vinyl-cutter-and-starting-a-custom-paint-business/#post-11322841

Brill... I'll check it out properly. Skimmed it on the phone so far but out riding so I'll read through properly.

No worries. If you can keep the features greater than 0.5mm I'm happy to have a go at cutting things for you.

Thought the art folks might like to see what I drawed for my partner’s daughter. She is a rare child, very non-materialistic and when asked what she wanted for Christmas (by her mum, I should add!) said, Some love. Sweet, so I got none of that, so drew her cat. Bit overdone on the whiskers, but I think she’ll like it

DezB that's excellent, I'm in the process of drawing our recently departed moggy as a Christmas present for the wife, if I'm happy with I'll post it here.

Okay, I've missed the Christmas deadline by a fair distance but I have mitigating circumstances, my head has been all over the shop and holding a pencil still was a challenge.  Anyway, I've nearly finished my cat portrait, I'm parking it for a few days before I come back and rework some bits.

I try to leave well alone as I know I can mess things up given enough time when drawing, but I need some space to review it properly.

So without further do...

He died in October after surviving a bout of cancer getting on for five years ago. Our miracle moggy saw four extra summers, sadly last years was his last.
