If that's how your GP investigates what is "[i]collectively known as Vascular Disease[/i]" then I would definitely change my GP if I were you.

To be honest it looks like a generic mail from the NHS (NHSmail is the sender) with just the surgery name and my name filled in....
I've entered long and protracted negotiations with my GP who assures me that a finger up the arse is no longer necessary as there is now a blood test which is at least as effective.
Had one of these a few weeks ago. I had to go for a blood test, then after a week or so I went to the GP practice and they go over your blood results and measure your weight and blood pressure.
I had it done with a nice female doctor on a Bupa plan in Edinburgh. (seemed rude not to and no fat fingers either).

Having had a rather nasty case of Prostatitis a few years back, I've already had the pleasure of the finger up the bum, CT scans, Radionuclide scintigraphy and ultrasound scans of my plumbing....

Actually I have a brilliant relationship with my GP which involves a great deal of mutual pisstaking 🙂
I had one of these the other day and everything was fine apart from a maybe fatty liver 😕 I was amazed my blood pressure was spot on, cholesterol fine and just told to lose a bit of weight if I wanted. Stopped drinking any fizzy sugary drinks a month ago and feel much better, now if only this rotator cuff would sort itself out.
Had a blood test the other week to see whether I had diabetes, called for the results on Tuesday, receptionist says everything's fine, no further action required. So I don't actually know what my cholesterol and stuff is, but apparently it's at a level that they're not interested in talking to me any more. 🙁

My GP won't let the receptionist give test results out now. For the very reason you've found - people have follow up questions that don't get answered. [edit] plus a GP needs to interpret the results so why not call whilst doing it.
'Fine' isn't really enough, imo.

That's fair enough - am toying with the idea of making an appointment to go through it, but might not be for a week or two. She was just telling me that there's nothing on the notes to suggest that any further action is required, she wasn't (I hope!) interpreting the results herself - they'll have been looked at by a clinician when they came back in.
Or at least, I hope so. Maybe I should make that appointment soonerer...

You are officially old when you are sent a little kit with which to collect small samples of poo to send of for screening. Do remember not to put the wrong end of the stick in your mouth between samples.
