When someone says that, am I right in thinking that they really mean "most people think I'm an arsehole, but I don't really care"?

I think they think it means people love or hate you but rarely have a meh reaction.

Or that if they take a bite or lick you it will reveal you to be salty, yeasty, bitter but delicious all at once 😛

THIS

"most people think I'm an arsehole, but I don't really care"?

That is more I call A spade a spade or i am honest but not everyone can handle it or some such other description where they describe them not caring about other people as a strength in themselves as they are too narcissistic to realise the weakness.

It's a conspiracy!!

(the mod thing, not the marmite thing)

Within a few hundred years, most of us will have passed through a stage where parts of us appear similar to marmite.

Can't comment on flavour...

It means you're vile, rancid, made of devils faeces and in your heart, it's black.

Black as the ace of spades.

It means that they think that people either love them or hate them, but in reality everyone just hates them.

It's right up there with "I'm a right laugh me!" Said in a DeeDaa accent. Usually the least funny person in the room.

I can only echo the experiences above.

Anyone that describes themself e.g."I'm Marmite/whacky/the class clown" can safely be instantly ignored.

Also, "I say what I like and people need to deal with it", is usually a great way to identify the person that will run out of meeting rooms in tears.

I find it usually signals someone pig-ignorant, with opinions based on fantasy. The person saying nothing the loudest.
See pretty much any episode of Come Dine With Me!

Absolutely, I've met a few people in my life who have described themselves as 'a bit marmite' - the truth is only half the people they meet are honest about them.

POSTED 9 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

+1. Usually code for "I'm a rude dickhead and I think everyone else is wrong about everything unless they share my opinion".

"I'm a real Yorkshireman/Glaswegian..." = I'm an insufferable bore who won't stop banging on about somewhere I haven't lived for twenty years.

"I'm not very politically correct" = I am a rude dickhead and I am too stupid to think how I could go through life being less rude.

"I keep myself to myself" = I am a miseryguts.

"I like banter" = I should keep myself to myself.
