Whats the best way to listen to itunes in the car, i've just bought a 56 audi A3 and the CD player hasn't got an auxiliary port or a USB to plug in an ipod.
Is there anything on the market thats small and neat to link up an ipod to the cat stereo?
Cheers
Nick
the radio is probably very similar to my 55 Skoda. (sorry, it's true!)
I have a thing plugged into the CD-changer port that ends in an iPod connector in the glove compartment. Just plug this into the iPod and the six buttons on the radio that choose the different slots in the CD-changer now choose different playlists etc. It's clunky but very good quality audio.

Made by Dension (sp?)
My Mates 06 A3 don't have that in his Glovebox you may be shit out of luck.
I have a Denson Icelink on my 53 plate VW Passat, it plugs into the CD changer port on the back of the head unit. The Audi should have one as my 03 plate Seat Ibiza that I had before did. It works well as you can control the ipod with the button on the stereo-it also charges it at the same time as it is connects to the docking pont on the ipod.
forgive me for being a bit useless but with re to the Denison would i; remove the existing stereo, plug in the adaptor, drill a hole in the glove compartment to feed through the USB plug, plug in the ipod and then control from the existing stereo, therefore i wouldn't need an external compartment to hold the ipod?

Yes - that's it Dension ICE Link. It was about £200 I think...
Damn £200?....i would buy a Ipod ready head unit for £150.
thanks for your help

I did a similar thing with a Focus; you should just be able to poke the wire from the back of the stereo in to the glovebox from the back and avoid having to drill anything.
Is there now in the wee recess just near the handbrake - there is in our a3. radio transmitter that fits into the ipod might be an option for you.
Try your local car 'electrics' place, they supplied and fitted one that utilises the (non) CD unit in my old Beemer - about £160 all in.
Works through the controls plus displays the songs on the dashboard pixels.
I have a radio transmitter from Amazon which works pretty well
Think that's only the newer ones obi my golf has that media device.
VAG do a standard connection for about £90, I fitted one to my skoda and it was really straightforward to fit, it makes the streo think that there is a 6cd multichanger attached to the head unit and the 1-6 buttons play the playlists on the ipod and charges it as well. It doesn't give you track titles etc but I can live with that.
Use Google to check out Connects2.
There are nice little combined radio transmitter and 12v chargers that would do the job.

Got one of these from HMV - works a treat and you track information through the RDS
