Close...
Far away...
that clock doesn't look very straight
It's the wrong time as well, it's ten to four now.
ooh, that'd be Mr Chuka "offshore jersey trust company owns my home" Umunna, who campaigns against offshore tax avoidance would it?
ummm should I know who he is?
Damn you stoner, and your educational posts!
ooh, that'd be Mr Chuka "offshore jersey trust company owns my home" Umunna, who campaigns against offshore tax avoidance would it?
According to Parliament.uk, he prefers the shorter epithet of 'Mr Umunna'
Address as
Mr Umunna

Yup. Perfectly placed... 😆
Was he cloned in the same lab as Michael Gove? He's a bit Pob-esque
🙁
Are there any politicians left whom the lobby groups haven't gotten their teeth into?
You cant beat the champagne socialists for a good slosh of hypocrisy 😉

Unlike his new party leader, Umunna prefers not to be described as a socialist. Once a leading light in the Black Socialist Society, he says he regards himself as a European social democrat.
I stand corrected, a hypocritical champagne social democrat
According to Parliament.uk, he prefers the shorter epithet of 'Mr Umunna'
Were his parents dyslexic Pink Floyd fans?
I was thinking the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately for him, I suspect the headline punsters and investigative hacks would have a bit of a field day.
But Labour isn't exactly brimming over with fresh talent, is it?
If it's Chukka, Tessa Jowell or David Miliband, you wouldn't bet against him.
The next or next but one leader of the
Tories though?
I reckon this chap:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rory_Stewart
His PR machine is certainly working on overdrive at present
His, or that of the party? Diversionary tactic, while Ed's rating goes down faster than a fast thing?
goes down faster than a fast thing?
Come on captain, have some conviction.
Start again;
???????goes down faster than a
Already had one swipe of the banhammer recently! Don't need another! 🙂
Already had one swipe of the banhammer recently! Don't need another!
LOLz.
You too flashy?
GAH!
Sounds perfect for a Labour leader. Middle class, private school, not a socialist and some dodgy offshore trust shenanigans to boot 😀
Yep. 🙂
*edit - that was @darcy, not allthepies! 🙂 *
Are there any politicians left whom the lobby groups haven't gotten their teeth into?
How is lobbying even legal? Surely it is just bribery dressed in a suit minus the brown envelope.
...trying desperately to think of a way to encorporate Matatta into his name....
can't stand the arrogant arse though.
there are plans afoot to clean up the lobbying industry in the uk
however.....
Nearly two years ago David Cameron warned that lobbying in this country had got 'out of control'.
"As anticipated, the government's plans for transparency regulations for the influence industry have lobbyists' fingerprints all over them. The proposals lack both breadth and depth: they would reveal on only a tiny proportion of the industry, and then no meaningful information. The lobbying industry has triumphed here. This is what they want; a partial system of minimal disclosure.
oh and my moneys on ken clarke for next labour leader 😉

... and when Obama wins in November, he can take the opportunistic race card toboggan to boost his prospects...
Spin gold.
I've got it!
''In other news today, Labour MP Chuka Umunna announced plans to encourage school children to reach their quota of 5-a-day by giving up their chicken tikka dinners - The policy is being named 'The Umunna Tomata' - it means no curries.''
Oh dear ... Not another posh git pretending to be from the "slump" ... 🙄
no! - its like - ''it means no worries!'' , you know, like the hairy pig, Pumba...or summink. and he grunts alot?!
oh forget it.
I predict...This guy
As leader of the Labour Party ? ....you having a laugh ? ?
For a start he's black ...... we don't do black political party leaders in Britain. Besides, the Labour party isn't that open minded......all applicants must be middle class and white - vulgar working class and dark candidates need not apply.
Secondly, he's got 18 months experience as an MP ...... 18 months job experience and you think he can lead a party ? !
And thirdly, he would represent zero improvement on Ed Milliband. The geezer is a walking talking incarnated version of the Guardian. Expect nothing more from him than muddled waffling fence-sitting bollox......."we're just like the Tories but so much nicer". The unelected bishops in the House of Lords, and a handful of LibDem peers, are doing a better job of challenging the government than that useless herbert.
ernie - what broadsheet do "real" Lab supporters read OOI?
Mostly the Guardian I suspect teamhurtmore, with a few reading the Independent. It's unlikely to be the the Times or the Telegraph. Why ?
EDIT : When I say "unlikely" I of course mean unlikely that many read Times or the Telegraph. There was I time many years ago when I read the Times on a daily basis, and occasionally the Telegraph, at that time I was a very strong supporter of Labour. Although to be fair I often buy more than one paper per day.
Oooh, I hope not Ernie. there's not that many of them.
He asked me what broadsheet "real" Labour supporters read. Which is what I answered. I am well aware that there are more than 230,000 Labour supporters in Britain. I have no idea why he asked me.
Nothing sinister in the question ernie - its just thats the second dig at Guardian readers recently which seemed to suggest that "true Lab" supporters do not read it. I would have guessed its market segment was Lib Dem/Labour.
The graph above would be more interesting as a %age of readership. So lots of Mail readers vote lab in absolute terms but guess they would be small % of total Mail readership.
And as I was reading this, he's just been on the 6 o'clock news. Spooky.

It's not, due to subsidence it's currently leaning by eighteen inches. Just think of the scaffolding companies rubbing their hands.

Eh ? Of course plenty of Labour supporters read the Guardian, specially the ones which are also Labour Party members. How the hell do you think they end up with the likes of Blair and Miliband as their leaders ?
And if it's only my second dig at the Guardian recently then I must be slacking.
Well http://www.oddschecker.com/specials/politics-and-election/british-politics/next-prime-minister still shows him at 14s at the shortest, behind Yvette at 8s and David and the other Ed at 10s. The bookies aren't necessarily the best political forecasters, but neither are they in the habit of being overly generous with their odds.
Some interesting names in that list aracer ..........Nick Clegg, Chris Huhne, and Liam Fox 🙂
Yeah well, the bookies will happily take a bet on anybody. I probably should quote best odds as that's what you'd put a bet on if using that (anything shorter is the bookies trying to make a bit more margin) - which has Yvette on 10s, David on 12s, the other Ed on 14s and Mr Umunna on 25s. In which case you can get 50/1 on Nick - I suspect some people are putting money on him not realising that even if a NUT assassination cell gets CMD he still doesn't get any power under our constitution.
I predict.......
disquiet?
