Just got an i-pod classic as a birthday present, and i am struggling to load music from my external hard dr5ive onto it.
I have about 2000 cd's on the hard drive and only some of the folders will sync with the i-pod.

Anyone know what i'm doing wrong? Keep it simple if possible, as i don't really understand computer terminology.

You need to install iTunes - you can download it from www.apple.com/itunes then tell iTunes where to find your music.

Once iTunes has recognised all your music, just connect your iPod and syncronise your music.

When you run iTunes for the first time, it asks you if you want it to go looking for music.

If you want to add more music after that, you can go to the File menu and "Import Music" I think.

open itunes, go into Edit>preferences>advanced. make sure 'copy files to itunes media folder' and 'keep itunes media folder organised' are un-checked. click OK

go to file>add folder to library> then select the folder where all your music is

mrmichael - think that's working now.
Will have to trawl through a few thousand cd's now.
