Well the ongoing fight with the council goes on another step. (Previous thread ) I made a detailed formal complaint. where I have them bang to rights they merely ignored the issue, the rest was defended with a load of waffling bollox. ARRGGHHHH A mix of lies, ignoring things and outright obfuscation

If you see in the papers "murderous rampage in edinburgh council offices, irate council taxpayer runs amok" you will know why.

I didn't expect they would give in easily but this is outrageous

is there not some sort of independent council ombudsman/woman you can escalate this to?

*Adds wwaswas and scardypants to list*

What really gets me is some of it could be resolved by an admission of fault and an apology. For example there was a meeting held over a year ago. We were promised minutes but never received them - I know why - its because I got the council boss to promise to sort out some issues and he late regretted this - however all they have to do is acknowledge they got this wrong. I have the promise of the minutes in writing FFS! They cannot deny that we were promised minutes and did not get them

ARRGGHHHH GGGGRRRRR

You spoken to your MSP/MP? They can sometimes find the sensitive bit of the cooncils to which a kick is most likely to get a reaction.

CAB?

Are any other flats affected? Would a collective threat to sue carry more weight?

Given that it's Edinburgh City Council I pity you. These are the people that don't think they answer to anyone. Worst people that ever walked the face of the earth.

Time to retreat to space and nuke from orbit or at the very least develop a marzocchi cluster bomber.

Kevin - the MSP on the list to be contacted

th ownership situation is complex to say the least. It ends up falling on me to make the complaints.

I like the idea of a mazocchi cluster bomber 🙂

I've got a little list--I've got a little list.

Just be careful or you will be added to the list

Brilliant!,I have nickc in front from Junkyard.TJ; have you been known to go on about helmets? (Adds himself to list)

When TJ came for the Planning dept,I did not speak out,I was not in planning.
When TJ came for the Tory party donors,I did not speak out,I was not a Donor.
When TJ came came for the helmet naysayers,I did not speak out,I was not a helmet naysayer.
When TJ came for me,there was no-one left to speak out.

My friend Kam lived in an ex council house . The lady downstairs ( still council owned ) wanted a satelite dish . The fitter went up on the roof above Kams flat and fitted the dish to the chimney.
He also managed to break/dislodge about 4 roof slates, so he put a Tesco bag in the hole and tried to wedge the tiles in place.
A week later, about an hour after his birthday meal his roof caught fire due to water in the electrics and he was lucky not too die when the water tank smashed into his bedroom.
The council were notified every day for the previous 5 days about the hole in the roof.
We were shoveling Kams belongings into bin bags when the council bloke turned up to fix the hole in the roof.
We pointed to about 4 remaing charred rafters and asked would he like a cuppa before he started .
There then commenced 2 years of letter writing and denial by the council, who were determined not to pay. Lawyers got involved and they settled out of court eventually.

Elf.- Top 10 mate. Never forget.

Singletrackmind - the thing that really irks me here is the council appointed contractor did around £20 000 of damage to my flat over the last 3 years then went bust. According to the council I have to pay to repair the damage their contractors caused. I am already paying many tens of thousands for the original work. So they appoint someone to do work they say has to be done, it goes wrong and causes loads of damage and I have to pay to correct the damage?

just do as i did with edinburgh council when i wasn't happy with the work they arranged on my building -
refuse to pay, get taken to court.
point out to sheriff that i wasn't happy
get case sisted for council to investigate (after the fourth hearing)
then hear nothing more about it

that was over a year ago...

(Essel, if you happen to see Gerry 'The Ironmonger' on D-wing, can you let him know his wife's gonna get a lovely new kitchen if he sorts that little issue we talked about, [s]should[/s] when TJ ends up inside? Cheers)
