In a big envolope, sent first class!

It included 4 ways to pay, should I send a cheque, go online, pay by backs, or even pay in 4 equal instalments for no extra charge? 😆

Sorry, this just made me giggle 😆

I once got a letter sent to my address from a company telling me they did not have my adress and asking me to get in touch to give them my address

Write a strongly worded letter disputing the debt, and invite them to sue your ass.

Some of our clients require monthly invoicing - even if there are no charges.

I would guess it is just part of their ongoing record keeping

They may sell the debt to a collection agency, for 50% of the value.

Go online and pay it.

You'll probably crash their system, there's a good chance nobody thought to test it for this scenario (possibly).

haha - but probably advisable to not use your most important credit card, else it'll trigger the anti-fraud checks 😉

Sounds about right. My OH got a phone call last week asking her for her phone number.

Sure. Just ring her up and ask her for it.

Ahh the famous "Private sector is massively more efficient than the public". We all have numerous examples of this crap almost every day. I get a letter from Virgin media fortnightly to monthly telling me all about their latest offers and why don't I shift to them? I have been a customer for 2 years. Surely this is the sort of thing that a correctly operated computer system should be able to eliminate? (I accept it's not the computers fault RIRO).

I'll forward it to you.

Oh and I seem to recall listening to something on Money Box a little while ago where ignoring these things had led to someone having credit problems as it flags up a non payment.

I've half a memory of someone getting a £0 bill from a utility (British Gas? maybe). Got increasingly threatening letters until he finally sent them a cheque for £0.00 which satisfied the computer. In hindsight now, I don't know if that was an urban myth or not.

Seems the one I was thinking of was a myth,

... though zero bills aren't unheard of (assuming the source is to be believed.

The tax man has sent me a bill for 1p.

Wife who is an accountant has told me I don't need to pay it but I feel the urge to pay it in cash at the post office counter.

I used to get zero bills from British Gas.
Moved into a new (rented) property and for about 3 months I was getting a letter every day from British Gas addressed variously to me, the previous tenant or the landlady. Everything from:
"welcome to British Gas, we're your gas supplier"
to
"you owe us [insert random amount], pay immediately"
and on one memorable occasion a letter threatening me with legal action if I didn't pay £0.00 immediately.

It took me the whole three months often spending 30 minutes on hold at a time to tell them who I was, establish that there was no outstanding debt and to get rid of them and swap to a decent supplier.

I don't want to be rude, but there's no reason in the world for ever listening to Money Box, unless you just catch the last 5 minutes while waiting for the News Quiz to come on. 🙂

Just set up the payment plan online!

The auto response said they will send me (by post) the conformation of payment dates and confirm the 4 payments of £0.00 to be taken by direct debit over the next four months!!

How much is costing?? 😆

if its from a credit card company they now have to send them yearly on nil balances to make you aware the account is still running/open and no balance/transactions outstanding

That's worse!

On the other hand of course, I did use Listen Again to listen to the Archers Omnibus Edition earlier tonight, so I maybe shouldn't talk.
