Just passed my unrestricted motorbike test yesterday. Oh what fun.

Don't under estimate the power of a fully fledged MLC!

Excellent, well done. Is it bad form to call dibs on your kidneys?

Well done I did mine last summer and crashed 19.6miles later due to someone driving into the back of me at a roundabout so be careful out there. I can honestly say I now enjoy my rides to work now, for a good while I didnt really enjoy it to be honest.

What bike you got/getting. I got this for £900

congratulations, i passed jan last year, then the fear set in, no accidents or anything, i think just knowing i was on my own, no friendly instructor in my lug. So the bike got packed away for winter, i hope on days like this, i will lose my fear and get back on it,because i did love my lessons. be careful out therem drivers do not give a damn about you!

What are you getting?

I seem to be falling back in love with my bike this year. Which is worrying, I can't afford to love it and my mountain bikes 😛

Well done. Have you considered joining your local IAM group? Beard and sandals not compulsory 🙂

They're usually pretty good for ride outs and it is a hoot "making progress" with your observer.

If you're flush with cash try Rapid Training - top blokes even if they're (ex) coppers and they're very good riders, very smooth and very fast. You won't believe how they manage to stay with you and make it look easy.

Well done again.

It is a 1994 BMW F650, 40 000 on the clock now. It is the single cylinder one the newer ones are twins. Its not fast buts its good fun. Bit of a pig in traffic due to the gearing, always having to knock it down to 1st, but you do get to sit up and see whats happening around you.

Passed mine nearly 3 years ago with a view to commuting. Since then, no need has arisen, but this could all be about to change seeing as I had an encouraging interview on Friday.

Rode bikes without taking tests in the 70's, I was one of the lucky ones that didn't get maimed, or killed.

Two out of the five bikers in my road never made it. Both were due to unfortunate incidents. One was a side stand left in the down position (at the time I was telling all my mates why didn't they have a cutout switch on the sidestand - now all bikes have these thank goodness). He lost control when the stand struck the road and he ended up wrapped round a lampost, His girlfriend pillion spent 9 months in hospital.

The other guy had a car pull out on him, jumping a red light on the North Circular late one night. He ended up landing badly on the railings in the central reservation. Game over!

Both of these losses were total shockers!

Ride with awareness of risk and do all to mitigate these, but most of all, I wish you good luck as sometimes no amount of defensive riding will prevent nasty accidents.

thanks SP. I never intend to drive through London, far too scary!

Modern training is great, as it makes you very aware of the dangers. But the thrill of being on a bike, even at legal speeds, is excellent!

Ridesure are a great school!

The BMs are good starter bikes. I had mine for 5 weeks!

Replaced it with one of these, which was fast but docile, if that makes sense 😕

Congrats on passing your test, AndyRT, enjoy the summer!
