That's pretty pathetic after a week. Unless its a bad picture, it hardly looks like anything is there.

Have you got a nichemobile? Or at least a SS?

Maybe we should start beardytrackworld. Everyone posts a picture of their chins ever week and we compare and admire.

Careful, the January beard thread on here last year has resulted in me being a beardy weirdy.

i grew two beards over the summer. guiding and living in a van meant that it was too much hassle to shave and it added to my rugged mountain man image.

only shaved when i got near to an electric razor, and even then only down to a number 2. shaved again the other day as i don't think my mum would recognise me when i see her next week.

I'm assuming you need a double chin for that.

or shave it off and let it grow again..... wanted to let it grow for the whole summer, but the GF didn't recognise me when i saw her first time after two months and thought that if i wanted to sleep in her bed then the beard had to go.

+1 for ginger beard. Had mine since Jan. Get a Remington beard trimmer. I keep mine at a designer stubble-like 3-4, sometimes longer.

I rarely shave - just use an i-trim stubble trimmer. Works quite well. As I'm lacking in hair, I look like a baked bean when clean shaven, so only when smart only. Only recent pic example I have is the AWESOME yacht driving one - not posting that again!

jebus - even i do better than that after a week ....

i was sporting 4 weeks of growth - due to forgetting to pack a razor.....

found some scissors last night and attacked it ! maybe back to 2 weeks growth again ! another 4 weeks before i can get to a razor that doesnt cost me 20 quid

It's itchy for a day or so, then it's fine. I've not shaved properly since the January Beard thread, just use a trimmer to go really short every so often (usually when I have to actively dry my beard after a shower) - no itching since the first week.

Four days growth from clean shaven - and yes, it's mostly grey now aged 35. Dammit.

I too suffer from GBS (Ginger Beard Syndrome)

All men have it. Even an Iranian friend of mine, with typical jet-black hair and beard, has a few ginger ones in his beard. There'll be denials, for sure, but all men have a dash (or two) of ginger...

it's about 4 weeks for me, started when I was rather ill and couldn't be arsed to shave, feeling slightly better now but I still can't be bothered to shave it off.

The wife quite likes it so it'll probably stay for a bit, might even try for a zztop special.

I'm hopeless at face hair, I tried to grow a tash years ago, I think I was about 35, & my Mum said (in her Sunday voice) 'James, Have you had a wash today?
Never again.
I miss my Mum.

When i grow a beard it looks suspiciously like my first growth of patchy pubes. I like to think of it as my very own contraceptive. Then i shave and look like Justin Timberlake, it's a sad state of affairs.

My last shave was on the 31st of October 2007. Since then, my beard has only been trimmed once, and that was only to tidy it up from the 'bonfire incident' in June 2009.

🙄

Unfortunately, that incident, and the tidy up cost me most of my beard, so despite the timescale, it's only about a year long now. Mine' like most other men of a certain age, is a colourful mix of dark colours, of grey and of ginger.

The itchy stage starts to fade once two things happen. 1)The ends aren't as sharpe from 'the final shave' which seems to take about 2 weeks for me 2)the hairs become long enough not to have that wirey feeling. Think about a piece of fishing wire, the shorter it is the harder it is to bend in comparison to a long piece that just flops around.

... and thereby ends the case for the defence, Your Honour.

😉 😀

I've had beards in all sorts of different shapes for 20+ years and don't ever remember an itchy phase, (even when I shaved more than once in three years) ...

Is it all over your beard, or just your chin / wherever?

Apparently, using conditioner helps with the itching.

Bonfires are a beard danger. I had to cut mine right back after an over enthusiastic bonfire, which also cost me some of my eyebrows and eyelashes.

Had mine about 5 years now...was a short term 'can't be arsed shaving' thing until I performed a technically perfect face plant resulting in 48 stitches and a scar which the wierdy beard does quite a good job of covering up...

Also helped that my skin really didn't like shaving, especially in winter. Don't think I'll be ditching it in a hurry.

Initial itching should be gone by 10 days or so (for yourself, if not your other half...!)

Beards?

You can keep em. I'm waiting to leave my current job and then it'll be a proper set of mutton chops. And maybe some buggers grips.

That's proper facial hair tha knows.

Had mine since 18... Wife would divorce me if I shaved it!!!

My skin didn't like wet shaving, and electric shavers are a bit crap in my experience, so I started to play around with facial hair instead; sideys, chops, soul patch, goatie, wolverine, abe lincoln, skinny mexican mo, tried them all for varying amounts of time.

Nowadays, full beard that is just trimmed every couple of days with scissors to keep it reasonably neat and with the clippers from head to chin every month or so!

Every man should have his beard phase; not a few days dirty stubble, but proper bearded phase. And remember, [url=

If your Dad hasn't got a beard, you've got two Mums!

All people with beards have something to hide. And looking at you lot I'd agree with that hypothethis.

If I grew one it'd be like surf-matt's anyway, it'd grow quickly and would be grey, so best not bother.

aha! some like minded souls! - i had decided to go for 'side-burn September' (instead of the mou-vember thing) ala Guy Martin/70's Jackie Stewart.

its a slow start - it may turn out to be a long term project!!!

I don't think i have the kahunas to go for the full Ed Oxley - plus having an office based job, it may be frowned on...

Nobody that was good at their job ever got fired or passed over for promotion because of their facial hair, or lack of.

Having a weekend beard is like having a summer penis.

apparently i have to shave if i go offshore as the emergancy BA dont get a good seal round my face .....

goatees and moustashes only .

dont know how much truth there is to that my boss man just told me to have a trim up to make sure i didnt get run off for not being able to use the BA. seems plausable to me

"frowned on at work"

unless there is a valid H&S reason i'd say you have a case for discrimination there

we were told shorts were frowned on at work until i suggested i would wear a skirt like the female staff can, shorts at work for the last 6 years now 🙂
