ok, so it looks as though micros soft are doing some security upgrades, and they've asked me to enter another email address to send a code through to.
when I type in a new address and the code is sent to me, i then have to type my current email address in... though for some reason hotmail doesn't recognise it,... so i cant get onto my hotmail address which I've had for nearly ten years!
ive had issues before with this address with filling in online forms, some forms accept addresses with hyphens, others don't!
is there anyway i can access my account? or even get hotmail to transfer my emails to another account?
Are you sure you're responding to a genuine mail and not a phishing scam?

This.
Hyphens are valid characters in Email addresses (although starting or ending with a hyphen probably isn't valid).
Mine has an underscore in, and works fine.
Mines an underscore too and I have no issues.
I got the same email, it's legit but never had any issues (then again I don't have a hyphen in mine).
Hate to ask the obvious but have you raised a tech flag?
whats a tech flag?
and no its genuine.. not a scam..
