My preferred option currently is dowel in the hole fixed with some form of adhesive but it's regarding the adhesive that I have a question, pine effect wood filler or wood glue?
Alternative suggestions also considered.
Surely you would glue it in with wood glue, then filler the ends to tidy it up smooth to the rest of the door with the filler.
Make a very tight fitting plug from the closest wood you can find then hammer it and glue it in with PVA wood glue. Wait for it to dry then plane and sand it to match the surrounding timber.
^ and only use filler if you end up with some small holes that still need filling.
Cheers boys, I was unsure if the filler had a decent epoxy in it, couldn't see anything on the box.
wood filler is normally polyester I think. It will bond as it sticks to the wood but it will be viscous so may not penetrate very well which PVA will. Just make sure you sand it down after so you don't have any PVA on the surface.
Man Glue.
Globalti gives the answer used by my dad and grandad both carpenters.
+ 1 globalti also collect some dust from sanding, mix with pva ..colour matched filler. You could sand an unobtrusive bit if needed. Try to get grain on the plugs in correct orientation. 🙂
Gloryhole?
Gloryhole?
don't use any glue with your wood in that case!
Buy a new door they are cheap enough 🙄
