I am useless with anything to do with gadgets and have just got an ipod touch 2nd generation. How do I get programmes off the BBC Iplayer onto it? I want to watch them on the train, but can't work out how and where on my comuter to download them to to then transfer accross. I have I tunes and Iplayer desktop on my laptop. Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers
The Touch/iPhone "app" will only let you stream [as opposed to transferring stuff you downloaded from iPlayer on the Mac/PC]
Got mine on the phone.Handy in bed on occasion...
Google is your friend.
You can install it as a web app. Just go to the iplayer website on your Touch, then press the Plus at the bottom of the screen and choose "Add to Home Screen"
But as Podium says, it only lets you watch streaming video when you're on a wi-fi network. It doesn't let you download iplayer videos to watch later as they can't sort out the digital rights with Apple.
I use iPlayer Grabber to download video from iPlayer to watch offline on my touch:

on a similar note, what program can i use to download vid clips from the net to save to my harddrive then pod, used to use realplayer but 1. wont work with google chrome and 2. cant seem to transfer them off my laptop! i too am slightly inept with tech!
