*ok, we've got a nice man coming around tomorrow to give us a quote to take out the gas fire / cast surround, open up the fireplace (given the age of the house, and knowing similar properties, we think it would open out to around 5'6" wide by around 5' tall, showing the old stone lintels... just about enough room to fit a burner 😉 ) We're back a mid-terrace from a big, old, semi and we're really not convinced of the need for a stove. That said, when does need come into these decisions...

My day has consisted of splitting firewood (8 bucket loads on the tractor with maul and chainsaw), watching rugby and a quick blast up Talybont forestry on the bike with the dog (not a terrier). Just fed the sheep and am now sat on my iPad drinking coffee.(alas only from an expresso stove top pot, but it was on the woodburner...). But I don't own a rigid singlespeed.

I appear to have bred a STW clone though. At 13 he wanted a Ragley, and this year (he's 15) has swapped it for a Soul. On which he has a Thomson elite, a charge spoon, and Pro 2 on DT Swiss. Oh,and he can tell the difference between packet and fresh ground Lavazza, and has learnt to drive the Bialetti only this afternoon.

Well, I haven't any of those, not even a wood burner, just one of them holes in the wall for burning stuff. Not sure the wood store could be called a pile, move too much timber to bother stacking, it just gets slung through the door of shed number 3.

I shall have to resign.

Work fire wood stacks are around the 300 ton mark at the moment along with 50 ton for chip and another 50 for saw logs.

If tour really singetrack world your log pile is large and well built enough that it would be impressive to ride over, and the only reason you haven't done it is because somebody has told you you have too much travel and the wrong tyres.
