[Closed] How much snot does the average snotty person produce?

I've got a cold. I'm very snotty. Going on the number of packets of tissues I've got through today, I'd say I've blown my nose about 60 times. At, say 5ml of snot (i.e. a teaspoon) per blow, that's about a fizzy drink can full so far. Nice.

So, medical types, what is the average snot production of a poorly human?

My nose runs like a tap when i have a cold - suspect 2-3 times your volume.
2.5ml blow every 2 mins = 75ml/hr.
Probably only awake 12hrs a day though like that, so ~900ml/day
Yes, thats disgusting
Yes, I should buy shares in kleenex

Get down't pharmacy and get any cold remedy containing pseudoephedrine. Works like magic for me, drys things right up.

I have perennial rhinitis, and for a big part of the year hay fever.

So, the answer to your question...

How much snot does the average snotty person produce?

...is basically, 'not QUITE as much as me'. Would hate to think how much I actually produce when I have a proper cold too...

You blow your nose into a teaspoon? Anyway how come you happen to have a teaspoon handy in close proximity to your nose?

Better to blow it into a tablespoon and then you don't need to empty it so often.

If your feet smell also, check you're not upside-down.

If I've got a cold, loads, sometimes, it depends, etc.

If I haven't got a cold, none since I gave up milk.

Avoid milky drinks i find usually helps lessen the flow.

Orange juice instead n keeps up the vit C

Good thread.

I too have manflu, wish I'd found a way of collecting on the snot and measuring it.

Might make a nice lava lamp too.

Seems to be a particularly snotty cold virus doing the rounds at the moment. Had it since last Thursday. I may even have used more tissues since then than my hormonally challenged teenage son!

Maybe you need a baby nasal aspirator? Mothercare suggested I get one for the impending daughter due in December. The woman absolutely wet herself when I asked if it's basically a snot sucker. It is. I imagine emptying the thing is a horrible ordeal.

Been drowning in the stuff since Friday. Thing is its not green it's just clear fluid pissing from my nose.
Nose is chapped from tissues. Head feels like I've been punched.
Not had a cold since 2013. Sent my blood pressure through the roof, 221/95 was the worst 185/90 was the best. Hr in the 100's.

Be glad when it sods off, sick of dribbling everywhere at work, not nice for my patients.
