Just watched 'argumental' featuring Jimmy Carr. He hasn't always had that laugh has he? Or is he trying to aquire more attention?

I think in the past he's tried to hide it, but yeah I had a similar WTF moment listening to him a few months back. He and Graham Norton now have the two worst laughs known to mankind.
I think in the past he was doing more stand up, less hosting so there was less chance of it coming to light.
Whilst it's bloody annoying, it at least gives you a sense of which other comedians he finds really funny himself. You wouldn't put that on, especially not with the stick that many pannelists have given him for it.

I saw him doing stand up in Ipswich last summer, and was well impressed. Wasn't to keen beforehand. Needless to say there was a few referances to prostitutes and extra appendiges!
