There are always lots of handlebars on the FS section so I'm after a few pointers. I sold a riser bar on ebay but after wrapping in bubble and putting them in a box to ship they are not eligible for royal mail. The option at the post office was pacelforce at £11.99 which I declined. So what do you guys do?

wrap in bubblewrap and put in a mailing bag, then tape the mailing bag so it goes as a tube item

Cardboard Poster tube.. you can send quite a long one and still qualifies as a small parcel

My Hermes from your local newsagents and packaged as above will be much cheaper (about £3 or £4 from memory)

I once couriered a set in a bike box. We paid a fix rate per package not on size. I wonder what he thought when he recieved..

Thanks for the replies. The length is the issue with royal mail. It doesn't matter if you use postal tubes or wrap in a bag if the length is 700mm then RM won't send it. Hermes looks a good option. Just had a look and £3.78 with a signiture. They take parcels up to 120cm long.

I had the same problem with the 700mm length, I put them diagonally into a large envelope and by the wonders of Pythagoras, the length was reduced!

Cut a bigger box down to just right and sent via my hermes. Book online and drop off at the local shop. Do all smallish stuff like this. Parcel monkey for bigger stuff like frames.

I used a length of carpet tube, scrounged from a carpet shop.
Posted with Hermes.

I support RM when I can but they have some daft rules that seem to vary in interpretation between Post Offices & whoever happens to be on duty. 😕
