I would like to get a wireless streaming devise for my stereo to listen to music off my PC hard drive via windows media player 11 and have spotted such a device but it connects to the PC via the wireless thingy with UPnP (universal plug 'n play).

There will be an option to turn it on or off via the router admin page

I'll be very shocked if you don't have uPnP across the board, it's been standard practice for about ten years.

What router do you have, it's easy to find out quickly but most of them do nowadays.

Good guess. The best thing to do is to find out what your default gateway is and use that address.

Open up a command window (assuming XP) - Menu-Start-run (type cmd)
Then i th3e newly opened command window type ipconfig /all and find the line with default gateway at the start, whatever IP address is on that line is the one you use for the router config page. Although you will usually need the username and password.

As I say though, chances are it'll work fine.

Netgear will probably be http://192.168.0.1

If not then do as samuri says.

I think all netgear routers have UPnP enabled by default, I know the ones I've owned do.
