I'm looking for a hotel in Barcelona, probably in the gothic quarter, for a 3 or 4 night stay in September. Nothing too expensive, but not a bunkhouse / fleapit ! Any recommendations please ?

Thanks

Stayed in Confortel Bel Art, not in Gothic quarter but only 15 min walk to Sgrada familia etc and was normal ok hotel but with some quite arty seating areas downstairs.

Booked it through lastminute and was pretty cheap.

I liked "Hotel Jazz", £100/night for a nice big room, and they've got a roof terrace & pool. Helpful staff too.
Was located just off Plaça de Catalunya so just the right distance to avoid the worst of it.

You've gotta try Pla restaurant too - great food & service. Pla restaurant - where i got engaged!
There's a good bar round the corner called Andu that we liked too; http://www.worldsbestbars.com/public/venue_listing.jsp?categoryId=4&currentVenueId=16620639

Barcelona's a smallish city, and places out of the centre might be a fair bit cheaper.

This isn't in the gothic quarter (it's in Montjuic but looks down onto Las Ramblas) but I've stayed here twice now getting fantastic deals both times by actually ringing the hotel directly (under 120euros per night for a double room). Fantastic hotel

Hotel Banys Orientals. Get a suite which is in a separate building down the lane but fab and very reasonable.

Stayed here a few years ago, nice, not too expensive, good location. Barcelona has gone downhill since then mind.
