Today I will be buying bottles for my home brew [s]cidre[/s] apple derived rocket fuel.
I can get a number of bottles and caps from brewing shop across the other side of the city which will require sterilising. However I can't help but feel that buying a multipack of value price water from my local superstore 5 mins away will provide a cheaper selection of sterile bottles once contents poured out.
Any reason not to do this?
I'd suggest glass bottles over plastic. Plastic is more likely to go pop if there's any remaining fermenting still going on.
I save up ale bottles for still cider and champagne bottles for secondary fermented sparkling cider.
No. But make sure you store the beer somewhere dark as light allegedly affects beer hence why most bottled beer comes in coloured glass bottles.
An advantage of beer in plastic bottles is that by squeezing the bottle you can feel when it is carbonated.
Obviously you will buy carbonated value water as still bottles may not be strong enough in some cases.
